May 2009 was another lackluster month for comic book sales. May was the 8th lowest total units sales for the top 300. For comparison, March was the third lowest total units. Not only were there no titles that cracked 100,000 units, none managed to break 95,000 units. The best selling item was "New Avengers" #53 which sold an estimated 94,367 units.
Even though Marvel has less than 50% of the total unit sales for the top 300 comics, it is still averaging over 50% of the total unit sales going back to December 2007.
