Don't have the titles on me, as they aren't books I own, but I've read at least one book on Caniff, and a couple of books on the history of comic strips that included coverage of each. I believe there was also a new book released just this year on Raymond but I haven't read that. But my point was that so far, as of issue #1, we really don't know what type of historical coverage Glamourpuss is going to have. I found very little in issue #1 that really constituted new coverage. So I really don't know if Dave's historical exploration will be of interest to me or not. Based on issue #1, the primary reason for me to keep reading is the wonderful artwork.ctowner1 wrote: OK..what books are out there that examine the artwork of Alex Raymond, Al Williamson, and Milt Caniff, and how they relate to each other interms of influences, etc? Because that seems to be a main thrust of what Dave is dealign with in glamourpuss.
Dave Sim's glamourpuss #2 (out in July, images now!)

Don't know specifically - but I'd assume, based solely from reading the first issue, that's the kind of thing that could very well appear in the text of future issues.JLAFan wrote:Some good points made on the thread.
Lenny, any plans for Dave to put some essays/discussions into GP discussing photo-realism & the influences the various creators whose styles he is mirroring influenced him & others??
I do know that Dave just came back from Syracuse, NY where he was doing some intensive research into Stan Drake.

I was asking, actually, b/c I'm interested and would like to put the books on my radar for eventual reading.
