POP CULT online #21

Post by HipHopHead »

This was/is by far the best podcast I have heard. I am a father of 4 and have tried to introduce my young ladies to the hobby of comic books (aka graphic novels)...no luck so far. My girls are far more interested in drawing, three of them have pretty good talent. My girls also benefit from my vast collection of DVD and Video Games.

I grew up playing most of the street games Fat Albert played. Yes those were real games (Buck-Buck, Steal the Bacon, Skelly, Ringolivo (sic), Stickball (no sandlots in the city), RCK (kudos to those who knows what this stands for)

I also enjoyed the classic commercials.

Over the years I have been able to introduce young boys to comics with mixed results. Two of my nephews are interested, only if I keep buying them and there is nothing else to do. They are into the Halo and riding their skateboards (they are sponsored so I guess they are good). Comics require patience, if read them monthly and especially if you read trades.

Unfortunately, two other boys gave a ton of books passed before the age of 18 :( they were real good kids.

I'm happy to hear that. Rick does a great podcast and I figured that syndicating two episodes (we have another being released tomorrow) might get him some new listeners.

For those of you that really enjoyed this episode, I *strongly* encourage you head over to The Pop Cult Online and subscribe to Rick's podcast.
