Previews Spotlight #065 (Mar->May): Mar 8th, 5pm pacific
Previews should be coming out on Weds Feb 27th, which means the Previews call will be on Friday Mar 8th at 5pm Pacific / 6pm Mountain / 7pm Central / 8pm Eastern.
Submissions for the Previews Spotlight #065 show should be in by Saturday Mar 9th.
As always, get on Skype around the start time (or join any time after, the call can run 4 hours of rousing comics chat) and look for BobBretall or theJohnMayo & message to get joined into the call.
Of course you can start sending in submissions as soon as you have them done. Sending them in early is appreciated as it give us more time to organize the clips and plan out the episode.
Discuss any of the new comics AND call dibs on reviewing any particular comic on this thread.
Remember: We encourage anyone to send in a short audio clip where they can talk about any book that's coming out in the upcoming Previews that they are really excited about. The email address to send the clips to is TheGuys@ComicBookPage.com. (Some people were only send them to either just John or just Bob and we both need to get them to prepare to recording the episode. By using TheGuys email address, the email goes to both Bob and John.)
PLEASE: Each featured item should be in a separate audio file.
If possible, please follow the naming convention of:
p###-[M###-]ItemName-YourName.mp3
p###-: the page number in Previews (ex: an item on page 80 would start with p080-
M###-: If the item is in the Marvel Previews, use the first even page number in Previews for Marvel with the page number in the Marvel Previews.
If the item is not in the Marvel Previews, skip the M###- part of the file naming convention.
ItemName: This is the name of the item, all we need is enough to determine which item on the page it is.
YourName: All we need here is enough to properly credit you before we play the clip in the episode.
Please do not include spaces in the filename. Not all of the tools we use to prep the clips for the episode handle spaces in filenames gracefully.
At the very least, please include the full name of the item in the filename so we can be sure it gets listed properly in the show notes. If you don't know the page number, that is fine. Just leave it off. But having the full name of the item the clip is for makes it much easier for us to organize the files and prepare for recording the episode.
Tips on how to record a clip can be found here.

Written by HARLAN ELLISON
Art and cover by PAUL CHADWICK
On sale JULY 10 • 208 pg, FC, $24.99 US
Harlan Ellison, science fiction’s brightest luminary, has joined forces with multi-award-winning artist Paul Chadwick, creator of Concrete, to bring you 7 AGAINST CHAOS, a graphic novel that is singular, powerful and unpredictable. This extraordinary odyssey of mystery and adventure will take you to the rim of reality and beyond.
In a distant future, Earth is in grave danger: The fabric of reality itself is unraveling, leading to catastrophic natural disasters, displaced souls appearing from bygone eras, and sudden, shocking cases of spontaneous combustion. The only hope for Earth’s survival is a force of seven warriors, each with his or her special abilities. But can these alien Seven Samurai learn to get along in time to find the source of the gathering chaos and save all of reality?
I'm dropping Red Lanterns.....I was reading (and not particularly enjoying) the series through the previous 2 crossovers. No reason to carry on.THE WAKE #1
Written by SCOTT SNYDER
Art and cover by SEAN MURPHY
On sale MAY 1 • 32 pg, FC, 1 of 10, $2.99 US • MATURE READERS

When Marine Biologist Lee Archer is approached by the Department of Homeland Security for help with a new threat, she declines, but quickly realizes they won’t take no for an answer. Soon she is plunging to the depths of the Arctic Circle to a secret, underwater oilrig where they’ve discovered something miraculous and terrifying...
Interestingly......
I picked up Talon #0, 1, 2 in a $1 bin & enjoyed them. I was just about ready to add Talon to my pull list when I saw this solicit:
Since they are crossing Talon over into a book I'm not interested in getting, I'm not adding it to my pull after all.TALON #8
Can the Talon escape the jaws of death? What will become of him if he doesn’t? Find out in this story that leads directly into next month’s BIRDS OF PREY #21!
Time for me to drop All-Star Western.....
I'm really, really tired of them force fitting cross-overs with the DCU into every Jonah Hex story.......ALL-STAR WESTERN #20
The future collides with the past in this issue as [REDACTED] causes problems for Jonah Hex. And in the backup story, a never before seen Stormwatch team takes the spotlight!

Valiant solicits for May are up.....
Interesting that they're doing ZERO issues for A&A and Shadowman. Looks like interesting subject matter. I'm also glad they're doing these instead of the regular issues for the month instead of in addition to.

ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #0
The true story of the Epic (Fail) of Gilgamesh! Original series artist and Harbinger Wars superstar Clayton Henry returns to tell a tale of the early days of the man known as Armstrong! How early? How's ancient Ur sound? For the first time, the 100% true story behind the Epic of Gilgamesh can be told... A tale of three warrior brothers, the Anni-Padda or as you may know them, Armstrong, the Eternal Warrior and Timewalker on a quest to the mysterious Faraway to bring back its immortal Boon. What they find is a lost land full of danger, excitement and the greatest secret of the Valiant Universe! Plus: this issue tees up the next arc of A&A, beginning this June in issue #10!
SHADOWMAN #0
The end has always been near.
Twenty five years ago, Josiah Boniface was the Shadowman, and he had more problems than simply Master Darque: things from beyond are trying to eat the world, the police are trying to send him to jail and now he's got to rescue Helena LeBretton from a murderous cult, whether she likes it or not. A special standalone issue.

My Marvel buys for May........ My general Marvel interest is growing & DC is shrinking, the pendulum is beginning to swing, the New52 has been fading fast on my "interest-ometer".
Also, I almost evaded Marvel double shipping this month, if not for Hulk.
DAREDEVIL #26
FURY MAX #12
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #3
HAWKEYE #11
INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK #7 & #8
MORBIUS: THE LIVING VAMPIRE #5
NEW AVENGERS #6
SAVAGE WOLVERINE #5
SECRET AVENGERS #4
THANOS RISING #2
THOR: GOD OF THUNDER #8
THUNDERBOLTS #9
YOUNG AVENGERS #5
I'm on the fence about this one, 4 $3.99 issues all in one blast......Seems like is being done to leverage the Iron Man movie, but will it be good or something slapped together to take advantage of "Iron Man fever"? If this has a good DCBS discount that may tip me into the "buy" column.

Mine as well, and surprisingly, not just in the style of books I usually enjoy, street level heroes - Dardevil, Hawk'guy and the like, but to the more cosmic side. I have always enjoyed the Adam Warlock, Mar-Vell and other cosmic stories of my youth, and Marvel is bringing me back into that side of the MU. Really excited about it.BobBretall wrote:My general Marvel interest is growing ...
Same. Started with about 27 titles, down to Batman. That's it.BobBretall wrote:DC is shrinking, the pendulum is beginning to swing, the New52 has been fading fast on my "interest-ometer".
Sweet. Some of the best IM stories ever came from that pairing. Though I am scared I might not want to go home again. Like you, it may be up to the DCBS discount.BobBretall wrote:I'm on the fence about this one ...

Well, I keep sampling it but it never manages to hold onto me for more than a few issues. Longest recent run was the last reboot of X-Men with the vampires storyline, I stuck with that for about 6 issues.Perry wrote:Uh-Oh, Bob slipping back into the mutant world?BobBretall wrote:"Maybes"....I need to read #1 before I commit to more:

I'm the same. It has just gotten too big in scale for me, a casual reader who has not read any X-books continuously for about 15 or 20 years, to keep track of.BobBretall wrote:Well, I keep sampling it but it never manages to hold onto me for more than a few issues. I will say that the New X-Men (Bendis on old x-men) has been fairly enjoyable (reading a friends copy) but I think that is almost solely due to me feeling more like the younger (older) team inside ... trying to figure out what's going on.
