Wow! Saw a Thursday evening 8pm show........
This movie kicked all kinds of (bleep), I loved it!
They did not screw with the origin too much, there was even a Prof. Yinsen!
Stay until the VERY END, past all the credits. You will be VERY glad you did!
You MUST SEE Iron Man!!!!!! (....and stay 'til the end)

I loved it. I thought it was one the best super-hero/summer movies that I have ever seen.
And Bob, we did stay until the very end and it was cool. Although, I wished they put that scene in the middle of the credits and not the end. My wife, who loves me but doesn't understand my the comic book hobby, said that the audience that stayed (which is half the crowd) to the very end must be comic book geeks.
The other thing I would say (without spoiling the movie) is that RDJ is Iron Man/ Tony Stark, like Christopher Reeve will always be known as the Ultimate Clark Kent/ Superman. He was perfect for that role.
I think of how Marvel has transformed Iron Man into a huge character both in the comics and now the movies over the past two years. Their management should get huge kudos for setting the direction and getting this done. No one really cared about Iron Man before this movie, now he is probably one of Marvel hottest properties. (This is based on the preliminary box office sales for the first two days).

Great Flick!
The wife and I went to see it Friday afternoon, and it was excellent! My wife tolerates my fanboy mentatlity, and has even crossed over in a couple of areas, but Iron Man was not on her radar.
Robert Downey Jr in the role was enough to get her actually excited about the movie. For me, the best scene is when he finally gets the red and gold armor put on for the first time. I got goosebumps.
I'd rate the movie as a 8 3/4 out of 10. My wife gave it a 9. I think we're actually going to go see it again...and that hasn't happened for me since Spidey 2.
I'm so thrilled to see how well the movie did. Franchise city, baby! Booyah!

Yeah, I will throw in my love for this movie. And I think my wife enjoyed it more than me. As much as we want to see it about 10 more times we just can't afford it, so I settled on the Iron Man novel. Peter David usually does really good movie novels and I think this time will be no exception. The drive-in opens this weekend there is a chance of multiple viewings there too. I am to the point of wanting to plan more viewings as soon as possible.
If you think it can't live up to all the hype you are hearing... push that aside and see it anyway. It really is something special.

Yeah. They really seem to be trying to move the Marvel Universe beyond just the comics. I'd love for the Marvel brand to grow to encompass a cohesive narrative universe in these movies.Webhead wrote:Did you also catch the ***INVISO TEXT ON S.H.I.E.L.D. Saw it on Monday night and LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!
I'm not sure whether it's my favorite superhero film of all time, but it's absolutely close. I will say one thing though, it's ABSOLUTELY the best casting job in the history of superhero comics. Marvel took a real risk drafting recognizable stars in every major role and, to their credit, they nailed each and every one of them.
I cannot imagine how cool Iron Man 2 is going to be now that we've gotten the obligatory origin story out of the way.
