The Shade's Journal Podcast

Post by Darth Kramer »

For all the Starman fans out there, check out my new podcast, available on the Deliberate Noise Network's ReaderFeed.

Episode 1 - Zero Hour - is currently available. In this short episode, I discuss the format of the show, give a brief history of Starman, and do a quick review of a single page of Zero Hour #1.

Enjoy!

I suspect the show may pick up more of a following once the Omnibus hits the stands & more folks have access to the stories.....

You are 100% correct. If my schedule goes accordingly, issues #0-16 should be all covered at the time the first Omnibus ships.

Sounds like a good plan.

I listened to the first one on the way to work and it's really good... I can't wait to see where your going go with it hehehe

Are you going to do a retrospect on say the first 8 issues after you have them all done and then for the next etc?

I'm going to be doing something like that with WtH since issue 8 is the end of the first trade and I'm going to be trying to get people to record thier thoughts of what has happened in issues 1-8 and then get it all together into a show.

Here's my tentative plan for now, but as the show progresses, the format may change based on feedback or what works easiest. Now, JustBill suggested a format similar to Tom vs. the JLA, but since I'm a guest on the ReaderFeed, I don't want to monopolize the content.

Here's what I plan on covering in the next few episodes, just so you can get an idea of what it might look like in the future.

Episode #2 - Issues #0-4 (Sins of the Father + A Day in the Opal)
Episode #3 - Issue #5 plus Starman (1988) #26 and #27. This will by my first "spotlight" episode, with the focus going to David Knight.

I'm not sure how I'll handle the next few episodes, however, as there are two Times Past, a two part storyline, two stand alone stories, then a six parter. Issues #6-16 may determine the future format to see what feels organic.

I broke down & ordered the Starman Omnibus from In-Stock trades now that I have heard it is not printed on the crappy newsprint DC used for previous Omnibus offerings.

You can believe once I start re-reading the stories I'll be right there with your show!

I broke down and ordered the Omnibus a couple weeks ago when I was clued into a deal that I would have been stupid to miss. This book is just GORGEOUS. One of my favorite things is they reprint the covers without the title banner or UPC box or anything, so you can see the entire thing. It's awesome.

I had completely forgotten that I had started this thread here, so now that I'm back on a semi-regular schedule, I'll do my best to promote over here as well!

The Shade's Journal Episode 16

Join host Matt Kramer for a special Knights Past episode spotlighting Mikaal Tomas, the alien Starman! This episode will focus on 1st Issue Special 12 and Starman 28. Join me for a trip back to the year 1976, it'll be super freaky (and hopefully not back-stabber-y)!
