FINAL CRISIS 1

Post by Poisoningotham »

Ok, as If the countdown to Final Crisis #0 concept isn't driving me batty enough..... Psyched about Grant Morrison's involvement with J.G. Jones. The interview got me a excited for Final Crisis since I was at a point where I almost didn't care anymore because everyone has been saying the same stuff in EVERY interview.... "Starting off with Anthro and ending with Kamandi , how can it be bad?!" BLAH BLAH BLAH.

You know what totally rocks? All the stuff he revealed with the characters involved like Wonder Woman, The Question, Frankenstein, Mary Marvel fighting Supergirl. and the Alpha Lanterns! Did you read it? Having it be Grant's idea and him and Geoff's rolling with it! SWEET!!!

Anyway 7 issue series that they started writing last year.... Looks kick (bleep)

I suspect John & I will finally "break the silence" and review Countdown on the show as it approaches the last issue. Perhaps #1, perhaps DC Universe Zero....

What do people think??

Countdown hasn't been worth the paper it was printed on. Whereas the decision to make 52 a weekly series was an organic part of the creative process, Countdown was a weekly series for the sake of trying to recapture the commercial appeal of 52. There was no organic reason for Countdown to be weekly. On top of that, the very thing that made 52 excellent (collaboration of DC's top four writers) was eradicated with Countdown by assigning one chief writer (Paul Dini) to handle the book; with subjugated writing teams asked to script from his main plot points. I know a lot of DC folks love Dini but I think it's pretty clear that he got in way over his head with Countdown. Witness how Keith Giffen went from a consultant to story-boarding to now being a co-creative head of the book. Yet even Giffen couldn't save this train wreck because it was too far down the tracks.

Reading Countdown reminds me in high school when I had to read a horrible pointless book for English class. It just feels like homework. It has to be considered one of the biggest busts in recent history. And the worst thing is that by the end, it will be 51 issues!!!
