John/Bob,
Another great episode. The best thing was that I read all three of the comics that you guys reviewed
I totally agreed about the Silver Surfer mini. It was horrible. I didn't understand the point of the whole mini that I re-read the last issue twice thinking I might have missed the point. Especially since the reviewers at ign.com loved this series. I need to stop reading those reviews as comics that I like, they hate and vice verse.
It is a series like this that puts me off trying other mini-series that the big two puts out (And the sure do put a lot out). I thinking of using the Bob method of trying out new series.
I enjoyed issue 14 of the Boys but that was my last issue for now as I didn't pre-order the next two issues. Thought the series was good but not as great as everyone thinks it is. I am not a big Garth Ennis fan, although I think Preacher is one of the best comic book series ever. I need to cut a couple titles from my list and I decided this was one of them. If I change my mind, I am sure that I can find the issues. Also, this is one independent book that doesn't need my monthly support to survive.
Detective Comics - I loved the writing and art on this issue. I think DC has been publishing the best Batman stories since OYL.
Thanks for the show.

This is completely understandable. I think "The Boys" is definitely an acquired taste. I can see this easily not being a "top of the stack" book for people that ends up getting cut when trims need to be made to a list.HassanT wrote: I enjoyed issue 14 of the Boys but that was my last issue for now as I didn't pre-order the next two issues. Hey Guys,
Of the three issues in this episode, I only read The Boys. I'm loving that series because it's a guilty pleasure against all the traditional super hero stuff I read each month. I sometimes think Ennis can be over the top for the sake of it; but I find his sensibilities work better (for me) when it's characters I don't have any historical attachment to.
The Boys works for me every issue. It's one of the few non Marvel and DC books I actually buy monthly after starting with the first trade.

I had no interest in that Silver Surfer book. I kinda figured those minis would be meaningless anyway. Detective I get every month, it's just a matter of when I get around to reading it. And based off your recommendations, I picked up issue 15 of The Boys today. First issue I've ever read of The Boys. I really liked it. I'm going to pick up the trades for sure, and I may continue to get the books monthly now as well. Really good read. Thanks for the recommendation.
