Hi everyone! My name is Matthew Walsh. I'm 29 and live up in PEI, Canada. I'm an aircraft engine inspector for a local aerospace company.

I've been reading comic books since I was 5 & have never looked back. I've mainly been a Marvel guy my entire life & my first comic was an issue of Spider-Man. He's been my favorite character since the beginning although Batman is an incredibly close second. I've been mainly a superhero comic collector since the early days but have branched out quite a bit over the last number of years. I have a relatively small budget per month for books these days so I usually only get between 15-20 comics a month. I've been a physical copy reader since the beginning and doubt that will ever change. As convenient as digital would be, I can't see myself ever getting to that point (unless the industry forces me to eventually). There's just something special about going to the local shop and picking up some brand new books every few weeks. Plus, although it takes up a lot of space, I love having a hefty physical collection to peruse whenever I wish.

I've been listening to the Weekly Comics Spotlight for around a year and a half now and love every minute of it. I'm a huge fan of the monthly Mayo Reports and appreciate all of the insight provided on comic book sales.

Hi I'm new to forum so I best introduce myself.

I have been reading comics on and off since I can remember. My first comics were my older brothers 2000ad where I fell in love with Strontium Dog, Slane, Nemmesis and ABC Worriors and for a while I was happily reading these blissfully unaware of American comics.
Then one year when I was about 7 or 8 on our way to Cornwall for our holidays (about a 8 hour drive) we stopped off at a shop and my mum let me pick up some comics. It was a bigger shop then our local (which only had 2000ad) and it had quite a big selection. My mum let me have 3 as I couldn't settle on 2 and I got the shadow an avengers and teen titans. I must have read the print off these over that holiday. Unfortunately they didn't survive the holiday but my love for comics did. Especially the Avengers. I love the Marvel universe and DC secondly but will read anything and some of my favourite titles of recent years have been Image.
Been listening to the podcasts via comic's podcast network for about 5 years now. My favourite is the Mayo report and I prefer the weekly comics spotlight to most other comics podcast as other podcasts always seem to review the same titles.

Hello, I'm Rob. In the final episode of the year, John's good-humored shaming of people who listen but don't participate has prompted me to join the forum, if for no other reason than to let him know I exist and appreciate all of his hard work. I'm one of those nameless download stats.

I've actually been listening since before CBP existed and John was doing the Mayo Report on CGS. I was sad when he stopped appearing on that show, and I was thrilled to learn shortly thereafter that he had his own platform. I've been a faceless download ever since (a decade now?!)!

I'm 42, an engineer, with two kids (Kate and Alex - named for Kitty Pryde and Alex Summers), and a wife that also enjoys comics (yep, I'm one of those lucky ones). Comics are now a family hobby.

I've been a DCBS customer for over a decade, and I read 25-30 books a month, predominantly Spidey, X-Men, Punisher, Batman, GIJoe, Transformers, and a handful of Image titles. Yeah, I'm a child of the 80's, and it shows. I make no apologies! I started reading comics in the mid-80's (GIJoe, gateway comic of a generation) and I've collected ever since, save a couple of brief hiatuses (hiatii?). My modest comic collection, according to Comicbase, is somewhere around 13k, and I have a closet full of drawerboxes to show for it (best invention EVER)!

Being an engineer, I do love the number-crunching episodes the best, and I really appreciate all of John's work in that regard. It's interesting enough that if he wasn't doing it, I might have felt compelled to try, and I don't have the proper time to devote to such an endeavor. Thank goodness John takes that bullet for us all!

I look forward to getting to know folks here -- or reconnecting with anyone that was a member of the CGS forums in their prime. 'Nuff said!

My name is Zach Dorman and 43 years of age. I live in Wake Forest, NC - a suburb north of Raleigh. I read some as a child, but not really all that much. I started to read comics (mostly Green Lantern) in my college years, and then budget woes broke the habit. I returned about 5 or 6 years ago - mainly with the New 52. I tried going the floppy copy of comics for a while - I have a terrific LCS here in Raleigh called Fight or Flight Comics - but I simply don't have the physical space to store books, nor have the time to try to resell them. So I primarily have gone digital. As far my occupation - my background is social work, and more specifically working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

So anyways... I am still more of DC fan, and even then I am partial to the Green Lantern mythos. But I have branched out some. I read a bit from Image, Boom, IDW, Marvel, etc. I'm reading about 15-20 books a month.

I've been listening to John's various shows via his podcast feed for 4 or 5 years now on fairly regular basis. Love the number crunching stuff with Sam and TJ, the Previews Spotlight, and the Weekly Comics Spotlight. I never really felt I knew enough to give my 2 cents. But after hearing John and Drew give recurring encouragement to submit for Previews Spotlight, I am determined to get something in soon. Keep up the great work...

I am a Marvel zombie. I have started reading more DC books since the recent relaunch. I love Image and Avatar comics.

About how many comic book issues a week/month do you buy?

Too many now. I have been consistently receiving 175+- comics each month from DCBS, not including trades.

Do you buy mainly issues, trades, digital?

95% single issues. I do buy trades when I am trying to catch up on the years I stopped reading comics or to get caught up on a new series that I didn't reserve.

How many do you read every week/month?

When I get my DCBS shipment I try to read 7 - 10 per night. I can usually get done with my monthly shipment reading after 3 1/2 weeks. I then try to tackle my mountain of trades and hard covers. Currently I'm feeling overwhelmed with my 11,000 single issues / long boxes.

Do you submit clips to the Previews Spotlight episodes? (If not, why not?)

No.. I want to but, I don't for two reasons.. 1. I don't like the sound of my voice. 2. I don't think I have enough time. DCBS asked it's monthly shippers to choose a different week due their backlog in shipping. They now ship my order on the first week of the month which means I'm a week behind the others who get previews.

Hey John and the Comic Book Page Crew! I'm another one of those nameless download stats that was encouraged to come into the light this year. I've been listening to the various Comic Book Page podcasts for about a year and a half, and I have to say the content has gone a long way to enriching my comic book reading/collecting experience. If it's published, John is probably reading it, and that means his analysis is based on a broad range of comics reading experiences. What do you do for a living? Meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

What kinds of comic books do you like? I've got to go with superhero comics. Like any kid of the 90's, reading dime-a-dozen copies of the Death of Superman and a host of comic cartoon shows got me hooked on these characters. I lean toward DC because of the aspirational quality of their characters, but I enjoy anything that takes the time to get me invested in a character and their story. I also enjoy reading a good sci-fi, dystopian future, or comedy series.

About how many comic book issues a week/month do you buy? I try to keep my buying to no more than 60 issues a month. It's pretty easy to read 2 issues per day.

Do you buy mainly issues, trades, digital? Mostly single issues. Trades for really special series or back issue reading. And digital only for sales or hard to find issues.

How long have you been reading comics? Apart from a few issues here and there in my childhood, I started reading at the encouragement of a co-worker back in 2011. He told me about the New 52 relaunch as a perfect starting point, and I've been reading comics since.

thats about the same time/same reason i came back to comics - for all the grief i give the New 52 - it brought a bunch of new/lapsed readers to comics
