VERY interesting. I subscribe to four books but never through this site and not at these prices.

Normally I would be all over Catwoman but after this first issue I just can't invest.

When should I stop pre-ordering

Post by boshuda »

I finally managed to catch one of these when they're on (today is Green Lantern - thanks Bob and John for reminding me via the podcast). For those of you that have received this, at what point should I stop pre-ordering? Does the subscription kick in right away or does it have a couple month waiting period?

There is supposedly an 8 - 10 week period before you receive your first issue. I've gotten seven of these subscriptions so far and it's been anywhere from 8 - 12.

When I just checked the price is already set at 10.99, no need to enter the code. Maybe because I've already purchased a few subscriptions from their website they don't require it. Interesting.

Batman the Dark Knight

Post by jonah »

Another one up today, 31 OCT 2011, at http://www.tanga.com , BATMAN: The DARK KNIGHT. It currently is listed at 24.99 for a 12 issue subscription. Enter the coupon code BATMAN and the price drops to 10.99 for less than a buck an issue.

Deal is only good til midnight tonight.

note: I've seen with the comic and magazine subscription bargains, that sometimes, later in the day / evening, the price drops all the way to 10.99 without the coupon code.

Thank you for updating this forum. Between that and the auto-notification setting I was able to take advantage of this deal.

Okay, this one is not verified yet so please read the entire post.

First, I have bought Magazines from this site before without problem.

Second, I did just place an order with them for Action and Detective Comics. Receipt says I should expect them around the beginning of the New year.

Third, the images they use are out of date and some of the comics they advertise have already been cancelled.

If you're willing to overlook all of that, here's the deal. Discountmags offers a number of comic subscriptions. The best deals are For ACTION COMICS, DETECTIVE COMICS, and JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA. They are offered at 17.99 for a 12 month subscription. Use the COUPON CODE WOOT when checking out and you'll save an additional 20% off your order. This brings a 12 month subscription to $14.40 or $1.20 an issue. Not as inexpensive as the occasional Tanga offering but better than half off.

Once I actually start receiving the books I'll make a post to confirm receipt. However, this might be a nice christmas gift for the niece or nephew you want to get into comics.

This link takes you directly to the comic selection.

Today 5 November only, http://www.tanga.com has Savage Hawkman 12 month subscription for 24.99. Use the coupon code SAVAGE during check out drops it to 10.99 for 12 issues. That's 0.92 cents an issue.

(and the only way I was ever going to read this book after reading the first issue. woof.)

I don't think I'd get Savage Hawkman even if it was 50 cents an issue.

Hoping that after a few issues it will somehow correct itself. Always been a big hawkman fan so I gotta keep hoping. Or maybe it'll get cancelled and they'll substitute something more palatable.

OK. I can summarize my first order with Tanga:

9-24-11 - I ordered the Swamp Thing subscription

11-4-11 - Received issue #3 of Swamp Thing in the mail

So, that was a pretty quick 6 week or so turnaround from the time I ordered until the day I received my first comic. Pretty good.

The other nice thing is now I can just go get issues #1 & 2 digitally and be totally caught up.

Ran across this one today. Haven't tried this personally so please do your due diligence before jumping in.

Action Comics 12 month subscription for $15.00 ($1.25 per issue). Nice price for what's normally a 4 dollar book.

Can be found here.

Proving one's mileage may vary.

I received my first issue of Justice League (issue #3) today from the tanga subscription I bought on 16th of September.

I also submitted a subscription for Catwoman on the 15th at tanga.

Both Catwoman and Justice league shipped the week of the 16th this month yet I only got one. Meh. Maybe tomorrow's mail.
