HULK Movie!

Post by BobBretall »

Went & saw this with the boys today, very good job, Marvel!!!!

The was SO MUCH better than the Ang Lee movie.....

The "after credits" scene (like Nick Fury in Iron Man) happens before the credits, I guess the film-makers wanted more than 25 people to see this.

THUMBS UP!!!!

Bruce Banner(Edward Norton) Wow!
Abomination/Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) Great!
Gen. Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt) Excellent Job!
Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) Good job!
Dr. Sam Stearns (Tim Blake Nelson) Nice quirky role! Here comes The Leader!

& Betty's boyfriend was Dr. Leonard Samson, so that is being set up also.

Saw it last night with my wife. She likes Spider-man, Batman, and Iron Man movies, but was so-so on this one.

I, on the other hand, liked it a lot. Really felt like the classic comic book. I had a big simile on my face when he shouted "Hulk Smash!!" And the thunderclap was in the movie as well.

I thought it was good but not great. It got a little slow in a few places for me. All in all, I thought it was nowhere near as good as Iron Man.

If John is going to hold all comic movies to the "Iron Man" standard, I expect to hear a lot of "Good, but not great" reviews......

I didn't think Hulk was as good as Iron Man, but it was easily in my top 10 of comic book movies (and I have seen them ALL).

What can I say? I really enjoyed Iron Man and found Hulk to be okay but a little boring in places. Part of that is probably a matter of me finding Iron Man to be interesting than the Hulk in general. Part of is was that Iron Man was just a better movie.

So, yeah, you'll probably hear a lot of "good but not great" reviews from me...

What can I say, John's reaction to the Hulk was exactly my reaction to Trinity #1.

The Hulk:
Bob: Low expectation of how good The Hulk would be, since I though the Ang Lee one was a major pile of crap. The movie was pretty good, so I was ecstatic, better than expected!

John: (I'm guessing) Bit higher standard for the Hulk based on how good Iron Man was, and the fact that Bob was ranting to him about how it was a "must see". Did not live up to that expectation, so a bit of a *meh" reaction.

Trinity #1:
John: (I'm guessing) Low expectation of how good Trinity would be, since Countdown was a major let down. The book was OK, so he was ecstatic, better than expected!

Bob: Bit higher standard for Trinity based on how good I thought it would have to be to kick off and sustain another weekly series for a 3rd year in a row. Did not live up to that expectation, so a bit of a *meh" reaction.

That goes towards your point of how expectations can influence what you think of a comic or movie.
