The All New Atom

Post by Skyhawke »

Been meaning to mention this. I talked to Rick Remender at Emerald Comicon and he mention that Atom is being canceled. What he is going to do is do a final story arc for the Atom that will lead into (I would assume) a mini series that will lead into something else. He was a little cryptic about it so I assume DC wasn't ready to announce it yet. But there you go.

Any bets on the result being a series starting Ray Palmer? Possibly a Challengers of the Beyond series or an Atom series...

Remender can do no wrong in my eyes, but I didn't pick up The Atom b/c I saw the writing on that wall. Hopefully he's done enough in DC's eyes to earn a shot at a series he can put his full mark on. I'm also genuinely interested to see what he does with Punisher War Journal at Marvel.

Well you might want to get it if you want to understand the following mini series that comes out of the Atom book. Just wanted to make sure you understood that he has 3 story lines plotted out. Personally I hate missing out on part of a story and with the sales on the Atom there is no guarantee that they will even trade the last story arc unless the follow up stories are huge success.

Which by the way I picked up my first Fear Agent trade there while talking him. Wow is that action packed and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I read Remender's first two issues of the Atom and did not enjoy it at all, so unfortunately, I dropped the book. It broke my heart to let such a low selling book go, but if I'm not enjoying it, I'm not enjoying it.

Didn't enjoy at all huh? That is to bad. What was the general plot of the story he is trying to do?

I'm still getting it but I can completely understand why you dropped it. I wasn't overly impressed with those two issues either.

Something about the antibodies in Ryan's body going crazy. I think the biggest thing I didn't like was it was such a jarring transition between the previous run and this one.
