The purpose of this thread is for listeners (and Bob and I) to keep track of our favorite stuff that we're seeing in comics as we read them throughout the year. This will save us from having to go back and re-think about everything when we're trying to put together the "favorites" part of the "year-in-review 2010" next January.
Keep in mind that there are a ton of creators out there and I for one tend to blank on what particular people have done over the course of the year. So when putting down a creator's name, please indicate what work they have done that is make you put them down as one of the best of the best.
Feel free to post, and just edit your original if you change your mind as new stuff comes out.

DC:
Writing - Keith Giffen (Booster Gold) - managed to keep it fun after the creative shift
Art - I rarely buy a book just for the cover, but Ed Benes' take on the October Superman/Batman issue (where Supergirl teams up with Damien (Robin)) hooked me in immediately.
Character/Team - Batgirl
Storyline/Title - Two issues in Batgirl where she teamed up with Damien (Robin) with Grayson (Batman) playing "referee". I laughed out loud but there was enough action to make me want to see what was going to happen next.
Marvel:
Writing - I really don't read enough monthly marvel to vote
Art - See above
Character/Team - Enigma Force - bring the Micronauts back, baby!
Storyline/Title - I will go with Incredible Hulks Enigma Force, mainly because I don't read a lot of Marvel single issues, but also because despite being a tie-in, it gave me hope that someday we might see the Micronauts (Rann, Mari, Bug) return in some form.
Indie:
Writing - Nick Spencer (Morning Glories)
Art - Kenneth Rocafort (Velocity, Cyberforce Hunter/Killer)
Character/Team - Everyone in the Irredeemable/Incorruptible universe...I really can't pick a favorite.
Storyline/Title - Yotsuba@! - you knew I'd throw a manga in here somewhere!

Great episode guys. Very positive way to end the year.
When I posted my picks, I tried to stay away from the obvious choices for favorite writers; Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, and Bendis. While I didn't pick them, I feel that their books are always entertaining.
Outside Bendis, I think Matt Fraction is my favorite Marvel writer right now. I think he is doing some creative and entertaining work. If it wasn't for the art on Iron Man, I think that would be my favorite Marvel book. I have been enjoying Hickman on Fantastic Four, but felt his other books have been ok. Secret Warriors started out strong but has become a bit of a mess, with a lot of different characters that are not necessary the main team of characters.
Tony Bedard is an interesting but good choice from Bob. I also agree with Bob that the GL books are the best comic book franchise. I am hoping that with the launch of a GL cartoon, that DC will publish a DC Kids Green Lantern book. My kids, don't read the GL comics (for obvious reasons) but the love the rings and figures I have.
On the DC front, I do think for the first time in a long time, that DC has a strong group of writers on their books. Except for the Superman and Wonder Woman, I have enjoyed majority of DCU comics. This is evident by the amount of 2nd tier DC books that I am getting compared to 2nd tier Marvel books.
Which New Avengers team is my favorite team? The one with Wolverine and Spider-man
Seriously, I agree with John that the relaunch of New Avengers was pointless. It featured majority of the same characters, the same writer, and same artist. That said, I thought the first arc in the new book was great. I also do like this New Avengers team.
I had the hardest time submitting creators/books for the independents. There was a lot of good stuff that came out this year.

Normally I post for this episode, but I was out of work for six months and had to cut back what little I bought to begin with.
The only thing I splurged on outside of Walking Dead was the artist's edition of the rocketeer hardcover. My best picks would have been between those two books, which would have been tedious.
Picked up a Previews yesterday, so I'm trying to get back on the DCBS bandwagon with the HHW guys (or alone), so I'll have picks for this year, fingers-crossed.

I just listened to the Yearly Comics Spotlight. I'm a mostly Marvel fan who's interested in checking out more DC. I'll be checking out Green Lantern for the first time in a long time. I haven't read GL since the 1980's. I've preordered the War of the Green Lantern issues.
I'm going to pick up the first REBELS trade to see if I like that series. I'm also planning to pick up the Superman Secret Origin trade for the Gary Frank art. I'm not a big Superman comics fan but that art does look amazing.
It's important to take the time to go over what you thought was the best of last year. It gives you perspective on the what to continue reading or new titles to pick up next. It's also good to hear what I may have missed, for me that would be some stuff in DC Comics.
