Comic Book Page: All Comics - All the Time

So, we're toying with the "catchphrase" above as our new branding.......

This occurred to me as I have been inundated for the past few weeks with press releases focused around the San Diego con (where John & I are registered with press badges) that increasingly focus on video games, movies and TV.

This is a "knock" many people level at the San Diego con: That it has lost it's way as a comics con and is more about Hollywood and gaming. To some extent I agree with this. There is a tremendous amount of "other media" stuff at the con, however, I will also point out that given the truly massive size/scope of the con it ALSO has as much (if not more) comics related comics programming, guests, etc. than any other con, even with all the Hollywood/gaming stuff.

Anyway, as the e-mail from marketing folks get more & more targeted (them addressing e-mails directly to me: "Hey Bob, would you like to interview Brandon Routh about his new sci-fi/horror movie", "Bob, would you like to tak to the developers of the new Champions online game relaunch", etc.) I feel compelled to reply to those folks.

I've come up with my own "form letter":
Thanks for thinking of us. However, our show focuses exclusively on comics, not on related video-game or media properties.

While I might have a personal interest in these things, they are outside of the "format bubble" for our show. There are a lot of other comics podcasts out there that cover movies, video games & general pop culture, we try to stick to comics as a differentiator for our show.
And this got me to thinking of the new tag-line:

All Comics - All the Time

As I said, there are lots of other podcasts that talk about a wide range of topics on a regular basis: toys, video games, movies, TV, and (oh, yeah), comics. We are trying not to compete head-to-head, and have our niche which we'll try to be good at.

It's right there in the name: ComicBookPage --> Comic Books

So: All Comics - All the Time

What do you think?

Sounds good to me, though I always thought you'd go with "We Buy Everything So You Don't Have To."

I think the tag line, you're reasoning and the form letter are all excellent ideas!

They're keepers!!

And if you have appropriately labeled badges, you can avoid the walk up salesmen on the floor, or at least easily deflect them.

That sums it up right there!!!

But I guess if you didn't go with that one, then All comics, All the time works well.

Yeah, it seems that way sometimes, until I read through Previews every month and realize that even with all the comics I get, I'm still only getting a fraction of all the stuff out there......

"Just Comics"

Short and to the point.
We don't review "comicbook related" ANYTHING. We talk about "Just Comics"

Like Bob said, we don't buy everything, just a heck of a lot of it. At least currently. That wasn't the case for me while I was out of work. And we want our tagline to be an accurate reflection of our show.

We know, and we appreciate the sentiment.....

Actually, we do try to review a wide variety to give people a heads up on stuff that they don't get.....

I like the tag line a lot.

You guys are a pure comic book podcast.
