Mile High - Christmas Sale

So...this made me chuckle...particularly when I think about Bob's voiced displeasure with Mile High Comics (and the famous ripped cover).
Anyway, I got Mile High's latest e-mail which boast the lowest prices they can offer and still be able to cover operating costs. Everything slashed 60 to 70%. I figure, doesn't hurt to check it out. So I click on one of their links.

This is for issue 64 of Deadpool in NM condition. Regularly $60...but your's for only $20.40. Who is buying from them?!?
Now while Mycomicshop doesn't have this issue in stock, I checked Ebay. This issue just sold for $2.99.
I may have to request removal from the Mile High e-mails. This is just too big of a joke.

Yeah, it was not just my problems with their "loose definition" of grading that caused me to abandon them. Once I started using MyComicShop, Torpedo, and eBay, the prices at MileHigh were just too much of a joke for me to put up with. Even their 70% off sales had comics that were priced significantly more than I could find other places......

A $60 issue at MCS would almost assuredly entitle you to a full scan of the actual book you are buying. That should tell you something right there. If the book was really worth that kind of money, I would think they would be providing that kind of data. Otherwise, their pricing is a blatant markup just so they can discount it down.
I rarely spend >$20 on a book without being able to see the actual book, regardless of where I'm buying from.

Personally, I rarely spend >$20 on a book period. Even before the recent budget cuts I was way too cheap to spend that kind of money on a single issue. The prices at Mile High are a bit insane compared to places like MyComicShop.com.
But, in fairness, it probably costs a lot to keep a, um, "vintage" website like the one at Mile High Comics up and running.

I begrudgingly had to buy a couple Warrior Magazines from their website. I've looked long and hard on eBay and other places for the magazines, but have never found them. I know I paid a higher price for these magazines than I would on eBay, but I just haven't been able to find them and would like to complete the run of the magazine. This is my first purchase from Mile High, so I will report back with my experience. I'm slightly nervous though because of the reviews I've heard from Bob, John, and Wood. We'll see though. Wish me luck.

HA! I always found their site terrible in regards to look and feel. Your comment does some it up well.

To be fair, I have gotten many comics from MH over the years. You are generally safe with them if you stick to the higher grades, and they do have a selection of items (like the Warrior magazines) that may be difficult to find elsewhere.
MH is a good location for "I just want to stop searching and get it" purchases where you're OK with paying a bit more to finish off a set/run.

I too did my seemingly monthly trip to Mile High in hopes of finally finding some way of making use of Chuck's AMAZING sales. His current one calls for discounts of 60%-90% !!! and trade discounts of 40%. Thing is, his prices are ridiculous, particularly at higher grades. It's just an abomination that I can't find enough stuff to place an order when he's marking stuff down 60% or more across the site.

Before I found out about MCS I used to do the combined shipping with some of the other guys I know over here for stuff from Mile High... I'm glad I stopped as I was paying alot for the issues and since finding MCS I'm paying less and that's also with including shipping.
