Submission Thread: Previews Spotlight #001

I'm going to experiment with on my podcast is a new monthly feature called the Previews Spotlight. But for this feature to work, I need your help.
The goal is to increase awareness of titles that we are like that other people might not even know about. I'll be taking submissions of short audio segments from whoever wants to submit them and compiling the podcast episode from them.
Ideally the submissions would be only a minute or two long and in addition to the basic information of the publisher, title, issue number and price, give a short and compelling reason why someone should pick up that comic book. In other words, market and sell that comic. Think of it as a short radio commercial for the item. Keep it clean and family friendly. If the comic book itself is for a more mature audience, mention that and who would like it and who might not. The idea is to help readers find the right comics for them. This is essentially a matchmaking service between comics and readers.
If you need a little more time, take it but try to keep things focused and concise. Also, please name the files with the title and issue number of the item and your name so I can keep things organized.
Maybe if we give some of these smaller publishers a little help marketing their comics then more people will know about them and give them a shot.
If you are going to submit something, please post what which item you are going to do so we can avoid duplicates and cover as wide a range of items as possible.
And, in case anybody was wondering, this is in addition to the monthly Previews conference call that Bob and I have been doing each month for the last year and a half. Hopefully this will compliment that call nicely and extend the reach to beyond the people that are able to attend that each month.
If you have any questions about the Previews Spotlight, please post here and I'll try to answer them as quickly as possible.
The deadline for emailing me the submissions for the November Previews is the end of Saturday, November 10th. I'll try to edit together the episode and release it as quickly thereafter as I can.

OK, I'm going to call a couple of "dibs" based on on-line solicits for things I particularly enjoy. I may add a couple more once I get Previews next week and see a wider variety of the Indy stuff.
1) Wormwood: Calamari Rising #2 (IDW)
2) Necessary Evil #4 (Desperado)
3) Showcase Presents: Enemy Ace Vol. 1 (DC)
4) Vinyl Underground #4 (Vertigo)

NEW! If you send us a "capsule review" of a book solicited in this month's previews as an MP3, you will be entered in a prize drawing to win a copy of the "Awesome Indie Spinner Rack Anthology".
One "virtual ticket" for reviewing a mainstream book, 2 tickets for a review of something other than Marvel/DC/Dark Horse/Image.

Guys, count me IN.
One question though, how should I record the segment? Can I record myself on Skype and save it as a file? Or do you have a call-in voicemail line? Whatever is easiest, I'm there.
I probably will review one Marvel book and at least one indie.

The easiest way would be to download Audacity to record an MP3 file. Audacity is really easy to use. I'll use have to do is click record, talk and click stop. Ideally you'd listen to the piece and maybe do a little editing if needed.
Audacity can be found here:

FANTASTIC!
Just downloaded it, as well as the add-on that lets me export as an MP3 file. It's really a terrific program. Do you prefer files sent as .WAV or .MP3?

I might also add that Cameron has kindly added extra discounts for 3 books that John & I will be featuring on the Previews call, as well as in the 1st episode of the Previews Spotlight podcast......
NOV072035 BRIT #6 (We featured this on Weekly Comics Spotlight #007, and the solicit for this issue calls it an "ideal jumping on point")
NOV072053 PVP #40 (John & I are both fans of this series, and will be featuring it on an upcoming episode.)
NOV073493 NECESSARY EVIL #4 (we featured this as an "extra" on Episode #009 of Weekly Comics Spotlight)
All of these are highly recommended, if you're a DCBS customer, take advantage of the extra discounts on the November order and give them a try!

Guys, I'm not a DCBser believe it or not...I use their competitor: Mailordercomics.com. The reason I mention this is b/c my monthly books are expected to hit my doorstep on Thursday the 8th. I won't have Previews handy until I open my box; which means I can't record a Previews vignette until then.
Is there a deadline for submissions?

The submission deadline is the end of the day on Saturday November 10th. But, realistically, you have until I finish editing the episode together and release it which depending on my schedule will be sometime on Sunday November 11th.
