Some cool things:
History of the DCU line from DC Direct based on the art of George Perez. Although I don't think we need another Batman figure, it is awesome that we get a Blue Devil and the classic Manhunter figure
Wolverine Marvel Select Figure - I am have to get this one.
And something that I am sure Bob is going to start to collect:
DC Lead Figures.

These have been coming out in the UK for a while, so it was only a matter of time before they started distributing them in the US......HassanT wrote: And something that I am sure Bob is going to start to collect:

DAMN YOU, EAGLEMOSS!!!!!!
PS: You're right, I will, indeed, be getting these.......
Are statues listed on the Bowen Designs web site usually solicited in Previews two month's in advance? I haven't ever purchased a statue before. I think it would be a great start to a "comic book room."
If it says it will be released in February 2009, will it be in the December Previews catalog? I'm assuming the least expensive (20-25% off) way to order these would be through DCBS or the like. How are they shipped from DCBS, does it cost extra or is it included in the standard cost?
What if the statue has already been solicited in the past, then where is the best place to get these? I saw www.comicstatues.com.
I know so many questions, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have ordered all of most of my statues and figures through DCBS, but like most comic books these days, they are not shipped from the manufacture on time. This works for me, since I have not built my "room"...yet.IanG wrote:Are statues listed on the Bowen Designs web site usually solicited in Previews two month's in advance? Bowen is REALLY BAD in on-time shipping of stuff they solicit. Expect any "street date" they suggest to be missed by at least 2-3 months.IanG wrote:Are statues listed on the Bowen Designs web site usually solicited in Previews two month's in advance? The AIM Agents bust 2-pack was solicited with a street date of June (and was solicited in the April Previews). I got this about a week ago. The Mimic bust which was supposed to hit the street in August shipped just this past Wed. Iron Monger was supposed to have shipped in August and we have not seen that yet either.
The November catalog has solicits for the Cloak&Dagger and Mangog mini-busts, allegedly to be shipped in January. I personally think it will be a miracle if they are seen before Mar/Apr.
I get ALL the busts, so I can track their dates pretty easily. Statues seem to follow a similar trend, though. I ordered the Quicksilver statue back in July with a supposed September ship date). The Bowen web-site says it is preparing to ship it some time in November, so 2 months late.
Generally speaking, yes. If the date is Feb, you should see it in the December Previews. However, I'm going to tell you right now, to not expect to have it in your hands before April-May.IanG wrote: If it says it will be released in February 2009, will it be in the December Previews catalog?
For a statue, I'm then guessing you have your eye on either Iron Man or the Falcon.
DCBS is one of the better/more reliable ways to get these. 25% off is one of the better prices you can generally find when they are new, if you don't get them new, it is a crapshoot. For popular (or low production quantity) the prices go up swiftly. For ones that there is not much interest in or which had too many made, prices go down as they are remaindered. This is basic supply & demand, though Bowen has gotten a lot tighter on production runs recently so you don't find very many items that have supply FAR outstripping demand any more.IanG wrote: I'm assuming the least expensive (20-25% off) way to order these would be through DCBS or the like. I find eBay to be the best location, myself. I can often get things there for a tad less than retail to a LOT less than retail (usually bad-guys go for less, I got Tiger Shark & Absorbing Man for about $20 each)IanG wrote: What if the statue has already been solicited in the past, then where is the best place to get these? That being said, I just checked out www.comicstatues.com and they have some decent prices on some older busts. I'd say shop around there, eBay, and do just a general Google search for what you are looking for, and you'll probably come up with your best bet price.
Bob and HipHopHead, thanks for all the info. I feel like a more informed shopper now. Yes Bob, I have my eye on that Iron Man Classic from Bowen Designs. I'm also interested in a Conan statue. Bob, if you're reading this, are you getting the Conan statue from Hard Hero solicited in October? It's pricey($239 retail) so I'll probably pass. Maybe I'll just get a less expensive bust instead. CS Moore Studio doesn't seem to have any new Conan statues right now. Basically, I want to get a statue or bust of my top favorite characters. I'll have to space those purchases out over time becuase they are expensive.

Toys preview solicits for February 2009 (although the actual products comes out much later in 2009).

I think DC Direct has doing a new strategy and release a couple of the series back-to-back. I might get this whole collection, because I don't have any of the characters.

Darkseid bust and the B&W Penguin statue looks great.
And here is a preview of DC Universe Classics Wave 8. This includes two characters that I love, Commander Steel and Vigilante (Adrian Chase)

Also it appears that Marvel Girl is the next Marvel Select Figure.

Looks pretty good as well. Marvel select figures are generally more expensive than DC Direct figures, but because they only release one per month, they make it easier to get.
