Dear Brallinator,

Thank you for starting this thread.

Carrie Fisher left us too young and too soon.

Yes, 2016 was a hard year for music artists and celebrity passings.

With David Bowie, Prince, George Michael, George Martin, John Glenn, Florence Henderson, Alan Thicke, Gene Wilder, Garry Shandling, Patty Duke, Abe Vigoda, George Kennedy, Garry Marshall, Doris Roberts, Robert Vaughn, Ron Glass, Kenny Baker, Leonard Cohen, Maurice White, Merle Haggard, Malik Taylor, Glenn Frey, Morley Safer, Gwen Ifill, Alan Rickman, Anton Yelchin, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Greg Lake, Patty Duke, Chyna Laurer, Lonnie Mack, Muhammad Ali, Guy Hamilton, Dan Haggerty, Paul Kantner, Jimmy Bain, Vanity, Guy Clark, John Berry, Leon Russell, and even noted comic book artists Steve Dillon, Darwyn Cooke, and Paul Ryan.

I also thought we might want a thread where people just posted something worth noting that didn't really merit an ongoing single thread. Feel free to add any tidbits here.

And now more sad news. Carrie Fisher's mother, the great Debbie Reynolds has also passed away - she had a stroke the day after Carrie died. How devastating for that family and a great loss for us.

Here's a comic company going back to newsprint and dropping their single issue prices to $1.99.

I love the idea, I miss newsprint and reasonable comics both. I really would love to support this, unfortunately I just didn't see anything that seemed to my taste in the line. Anyone read any of their titles? have a suggestion?

i read an issue of blood for stone that was okay - i will be preordering their entire line up to support this move to affordable single issue comics and hope other publishers take note

Went to a concert last night - Mark Erelli was the opener, very cool americana singer-songwriter who just happened to write a song about comics:

Boy nothing says celebrating 25 years like ignoring the first 10 accept for one Spawn Origins collection!

Great point!

Although, to be fair, those early series may not have the same agreements with Image allowing them reprint or distribute those creator-owned properties, though I am surprised no Savage Dragon trades are included.

Hey guys.

I was thinking about what we have been talking about on the forum about there being too many comics being released.

My example being DC Rebirth. I love the DC Universe. I love the Marvel characters, but I love the DC Universe more as a whole.

So, I'm just trying to catch up on Titans which I'm liking. But, every time I turn around, I hear good things about this book and that book. So, I started to read Trinity as well. Before I know it, I feel overwhelmed about how much is coming out by DC and how quick it's coming out.

I read a good number of indie books too, and I'm like, I can't read everything all the time. I'm not at a burnout point yet, but I'm like, I don't want to get too far behind in DC because I want to keep up with the whole Watchmen thing as it unfolds. Just a lot of comics coming out now.

I'm sure others here feel this way. Do publishers especially the big 2 need to slow it down a touch?

I think releasing an issue of a title every three weeks is fine but every other week is too frequently.

The X books are supposed to be double shipping when they reboot I think with the success of Rebirth Marvel will consider double shipping all books soon. Indie titles will no doubt have a harder time getting shelf space. I got so far behind on my DC titles that I am going to trade waiting.
