Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016 plans

Who all is going to Comic-Con this year?
I'll be there all week. I'm staying over at Liberty Station again this year.
I haven't had a chance to look at the panel schedule yet so I'm not sure what my schedule during Comic-Con is yet.
Is anyone interested in maybe doing dinner one night at Joe's Crab Shack or somewhere else? Wednesday and Sunday don't work for me but I think I might be able to do Thursday, Friday or Saturday. (I'll know for sure once I check the panel schedule and talk with my sister about what are plans are.)

Dear John,
Since there won't a podcast panel at Comic-Con this year, have you and other comic book podcasters; such as, John Siuntres and others, thought about or planning to do a round table discussion episode on your own?
The reason is I really enjoyed listening to those podcast panel episode because of the different view points about the comic industry; such as, you bring up comic sales figures and John talks about what creators are saying.
Aloha!

Kowabunga in the house! We will be there, and would love to get together with anyone/everyone. We may have a plan Friday or Saturday, but will join if we can

Great suggestion. I'd toyed around with the idea and because of your post, I've actually done something about it. The current plan is for a pre-Preview Night recording with John Siuntres, Eric and James from Kowabunga, my sister, possibly Brian C (aka Pants) from CGS and me to record a discussion essentially as if it were the panel just minus the physical audience. I probably won't get it posted during the convention but that will depend if I have the editing time or not.

Sounds like a lot of fun! Brian Christman is a great guy. (not that they other guys aren't as well)

Dear John,
Thank you for responding to my post.
1) I give the credit to your friend, Chris Marshall. I remembered Chris, who hosted the Collected Comics Library podcast (I miss that podcast.), would have (and recorded) informal round table discussion with other fellow podcasters; such as, John Siuntres of Word Balloon, and Wendy Freeman (Sp?) of Double Page Spread, at C2E2 or other comic book conventions.
2) Thank you for setting up a podcasters round table discussion. That is so AWESOME! It's going to be great to hear different views of what has happened since last year's Comic-Con (from Comics-DC Rebirth, Marvel and DC's cinematic universe, to television series.)
I look forward to hearing the episode when it comes out.
Aloha!

I am gpoing to be chacking out the indie artists. I love seeing the work of the new folks coming up. Sometimes you can catch a rising star, sometimes you find something awesome that, unfortunately, never goes anywhaere.
I will also be working for Mike Carbonaro, producer of the Big Apple Comic Con, NYC's longest-running show. At his booth (#529) on Saturday, JC Lee (daughter of Stan Lee) will be there from noon - 3 PM.

If I can swing by tomorrow, I will but tomorrow looks like a busy day for me. Tons of cool things to do do.

I had a great time at the convention. The episodes on it will go up after I get home in a couple of days and edit them. My sister and I are headed to SIGGRAPH 2016 in Anaheim tomorrow and will start the drive back to Texas on Wednesday.

Wow! Fascinating event John. Are you attending for the exhibits, the animation festival and art gallery, the panels, the job fair, general inspiration, industry learning, or to play with new VR? Or all of the above?

Sadly due to not having the right credentials, James and I were not allowed into the press area where the John's and Kay ended up doing their recording. We did however catch up with John and Kay on Friday, and had a very enjoyable few hours talking about many subjects.
James and I will be posting our recording from our day by day reactions to our first SDCC on our podcast over the next few days.
Thanks again, John, for the advice and the ride home!

I only had access to the exhibit hall. My sister and I discuss it at the end of the second part of our Comic-Con discussion. The first part of our Comic-Con coverage goes up tomorrow (Friday, August 5th) and the second part which includes talking about SIGGRAPH goes up next Friday (August 12th).
