DC ends 13 titles

With the January 2015 round of solicits, DC has announced the final issue of the following titles:
  • Aquaman and the Others (2014)
  • Arkham Manor (2014)
  • Batwoman (2011)
  • Green Lantern Corps (2011)
  • Green Lantern: New Guardians (2011)
  • Infinity Man and the Forever People (2014)
  • Klarion (2014)
  • Red Lanterns (2011)
  • Secret Origins (2014)
  • Star-Spangled War Stories: G.I. Zombie (2014)
  • Swamp Thing (2011)
  • Trinity of Sin (2014)
  • Worlds Finest (2012)

In addition to those 13 ongoing titles ending, the following miniseries are also ending:
  • Batman: Eternal (2014)
  • Earth 2: World's End (2014)
  • Multiversity (2014)
  • New 52: Futures End (2014)
This leaves DC with as many as 20 open slots in a 52 title line up they could fill in the April round of solicits. Odds are they won't announce 20 new titles in that month but they could.

Any suggestions on what new ongoing titles they should launch and why?

if there is a return to the status quo in June, this would be the New 52 lineup:

Batman
Catwoman
Batman/Superman
Batgirl
Batman And Robin
Gotham Academy
Gotham by Midnight
Grayson
Red Hood and the Outlaws
Detective Comics
Harley Quinn
Green Lantern
Sinestro
Earth 2
Justice League
Justice League United
Justice League Dark
Deathstroke
Aquaman
Constantine
The Flash
Green Arrow
Lobo
Secret Six
Justice League 3000
The New Suicide Squad
Teen Titans
Wonder Woman
Superman
Action Comics
Superman/Wonder Woman
Supergirl

which is a pretty solid slate in my opinion

That list matches the 32 remaining titles I had.

Here is a quick chart of the sales of the titles which are ending:

It stinks Aquaman and the Others is ending. I was enjoying having two Aquaman titles.

It seems like I only just read the first issue of Klarion and Trinity of Sin not that long ago. They didn't last long. I didn't continue with either of them and I guess no one else did either.

I'd guess we get another 'Birds of Prey' book, Red Robin maybe, numerous new 'Lantern' books, something with Phantom Stranger/The Question/Pandora in some sort of combo/team book(maybe with other characters too), Shazam, Cyborg, Metal Men? and I'm sure I'm missing somethings off the top of my head.

John Mayo: I just found your site and podcasts. I think they're fantastic. What do you use for the graphs? Could you do one for 'The Phantom Stranger (2012)'. I really liked that book & would like to see the drop, if it isn't too much work.

I have an Excel workbook with a pivot table and pivot chart which pulls in data from my database. The real magic is the VBA macro I have to take a list of titles (such as "Phantom Stranger (2012)" ,"Trinity of Sin: The Phantom Stranger (2013)", "Trinity of Sin (2014)") and a date range (such as 2011/09/01 to 2015/01/01) to get a chart like this:

It took a little bit of work to set things up but now I can generate charts like this really easily once I know the exact title names in my database and the date range.

I was hoping for a new Legion of Super-Heroes title. There are few new titles (Mystic U, Doctor Fate, Dark Universe, Black Canary, Cyborg) on this list that I find intriguing. I am considering getting back on board some titles I dropped such as Justice League 3001 and Earth 2: Society. Unfortunately my wallet will not let me go all in so I will have to pick and choose.

Anyone surprised by the absence of a Shazam ongoing book? I also wanted to see a Metal Men book as well.

Here's hoping the Omega Men book is good.

Surprised and disappointed there is no Shazam, Metal Men and/or Legion of Super-Heroes. Or Infinity Inc or All Star Squadron. Or...

Hope so but Tom King doesn't has any real track record with me for me to realistically expect it to be great (or bad for that matter).

The lack of a Metal Men title is particularly disappointing to me, but I must say I'm not too surprised.

Palmiotti & Conner on two new books is interesting. Both books Harley Quinn/Powergirl and Starfire are also both interesting.

Another book I'm really looking forward to is Paul Levitz on Dr. Fate, that is the type of book he could be great on (especially if they won't let me do a Legion book)
