DC Gatefold Covers

What did you guys think of the different gatefold covers in general and did any stand out to you? In general I wasn't a fan, but some were pretty cool. I believe my favorite was Wonder Woman #19 since the main image can stand alone while the half behind the fold was surprising without feeling like a spoiler or complete fake-out.

On the one hand, I like the general notion. On the other hand, it seems inherently flawed. Shouldn't the question posed by the cover be answered by the story inside and not a flip out continuation of the cover?

That problem is part of why Wonder Woman stood out since it doesn't answer its own question after the fold.
Another issue is where the main image from solicits could function as a complete cover such as Batwoman, where the fold mainly functions to add extra room, compared to an issue like Catwoman, where the main image felt to me like an incomplete cover.

Have all of the covers been posted anywhere on the web? It would be interesting to see all of them at once.

Agreed! They're basically spoiler covers and I don't like spoilers!

I wasn't a huge fan of this event? promotion? marketing tool? doesn't really matter what you call it.
However I still liked this better then the average cover these days that has nothing to do with the issue at all and could be placed on almost issue of the series.
So while I don't want to praise this WTF stunt, it was still better then almost all current covers on the market.

I thought the gatefold covers were a great idea.
The execution, not so much.
This gimmick could have been worked in to a cool event where the surprise half of the gatefold was unknown until you went in to your comic shop to check it out. It could have created a cool relevancy and fun to the weekly trip to the comic shop.
I think the big mistake they made was revealing all the covers on the internet before the books came out. It removed any sort of urgency or fun to finding out what was on the other side of the surprise gatefold.
That, plus most of the surprises didn't seem that compelling.
To me, the most compelling was the All Star Western cover, though that may merely be indicative of my tastes in general.

I've found all of the covers except for Justice League of America #3 which seems to be running late. If anybody can find the full cover, please let me know.

FYI, I edited the above post to put a spoiler tag around the full cover on the off chance people hadn't seen it.
