Welcome to Panel Syndicate, where artist Marcos Martin and writer Brian K. Vaughan deliver original comics directly to readers around the world, who pay whatever the hell they want for each DRM-free issue. Our first new storyline is THE PRIVATE EYE, a forward-looking mystery we created with colorist Muntsa Vicente. Set in a future where privacy is considered a sacred right and everyone has a secret identity, The Private Eye is a serialized sci-fi detective story for mature readers. You can download our 32-page first issue right now, for any price you think is fair. 100% of your payments go directly into our greedy mitts and will help fund the rest of a story that we're both very proud of (we hope there will be around 10 issues total; an old-school "maxiseries!"), so thanks for reading...
BRIAN & MARCOS
28 pages of story in a landscape format. I paid $1 for it (which is pretty much my limit on buying digital comics), it was pretty good, certainly worth a buck.

I also paid a dollar. I am going back and forth between paying more for subsequent issues or shelling out for the inevitable HC. Might still do both. I understand it is not nearly what we are used to paying for a book today, but I think it is comparable to the price DCBS would give me on a new first issue they were promoting.

My justification is simpler. I absolutely do not pay printed comic prices for a digital comic. I have so far drawn the line at a buck. This is exactly what I'm personally used to paying for digital comics. Other people may shell out $2.99 or $3.99 for a digital book, but not me.

And although not needed (nor desired  ) I stand firm along side you with this decision. I would never ... will never pay more than a dollar for any digital copy of a comic. Any other price point is ridiculous. Sorry if I offend those that pay $3 or more for something they can't hold, but I find doing so would not be in the best interest of my sanity.

Read the first issue. Beautiful art that really makes use of the format. Interesting world they are creating. With today and social media playing such a huge role in people's lives. Interesting to see the result of all that information sharing.

Issue 2 became available for download today. Same deal as issue one. Name your price. Beautiful art. Really suits the tablet or laptop experience. 25 pages but feels like you're getting a lot of story. Likely because what they count as one "page" would count as 2 in a normal floppy. Therefore look at it as getting a double size issue for pennies. Or less. Or more. You name the price after all.
