Guys,
Another great episode. I really enjoyed the discussion of Final Crisis versus Secret Invasion. Honestly, I loved the second issue of Final Crisis and think it is a great book, but it doesn't scream "event" book to me. I don't even know how to explain the book to someone who isn't into DC Comics. I think it doesn't help that the continuity of the "Death of the New Gods" and Countdown, the books that were supposed to lead into FC, has been contradicted in FC.
I enjoyed the discussion of the Teen Titans spin-offs and encourage you guys to continue discussion related to spin-offs. I have been wondering myself why all the spin-offs and if they would work. In the case of Teen Titans, I think the book has been good (in both sales and quality) but not good enough to warrant spin-offs. Yet, DC is continuing to do spin-offs. Count me as someone who got the first couple of issues of the Raven mini-series, that decided to stay away from the Cyborg. The new Rann-Thanagar War mini-series is another spin-off that I am wondering how well it will do long-term. It seems that an eight issue 40 page series is not enough for this story, as they are doing one-shot double-size spin-offs for this mini. I just don't understand that logic at all. Does the story really need more than 8 issues to be told. After reading the past DC mini-series in this same format, I kinda doubt it. I really think DC needs to rethink how they package and market mini-series in the future.
As for the dominance of Marvel, it is a just amazing and scary at the same time.
