Well Coundown is finally over and I really wish they would have ended it with issue #2. It would have been slightly better if they did that. Overall it was a disappointment but there were several issues along the way I did enjoy starting with the Superman Prime issue. Of all the outcome from this series I am looking forward to hopefully an OMAC series.

Arye Force did come out with a 16 page preview before the hardcover because my LCS gave me a copy. So they did do some advirtising of the book but obviously did not get it into a lot of peoples hands. The tie-ins to other media is a very interesting concept.

Interesting. I never saw that preview copy. It might have been a good idea to have that be a FCBD offering.......but that ship has sailed.

The less said about Countdown the better.

As to the other comics, it was one of those rare episodes where I really haven't read most of what you discussed. I stopped reading Ultimate Spidey when Bagley left, so I have no thoughts on that one. I never once considered reading that Sinbad; I'm not generally one to give Zenescope a 2nd glance. I will say that, as Bob mentions, the exterior Al Rio art just doesn't match the interior art unfortunately. I learned that lesson on a few issues of Grimm's and was MASSIVELY disappointed. If you're a fan of cheesecake (which I am), Rio is a maestro, but the interior stuff pales in comparison. Last but not least, I hadn't even heard of Ayre Force until you guys talked about it.

I love this podcast. It's really so informative and helpful, and also entertaining when I have read the comics first.

I'm in agreement about Bob's DC feelings after Countdown. 52 was great, and then Countdown was so bad. MY DC illwill is diminished slightly because of what's been happening in Green Lantern lately, but outside of the Green Lantern stories, there's not much else making me really happy to be a DC fan. Justice Society was amazing, but lately feels like it takes so long to tell a story, and they spend too much time on getting new recruits. Booster Gold is fairly enjoyable, except for the fact that right now it's taking place in an alternate timeline that won't actually mean anything when they story is done. I so wish DC would improve, and fast.

Not much into Ultimate Spidey, so I'll pass there.

I picked up Sinbad 0 but had not read it yet. I don't think the different art styles is that bad. The style from issue 1 looks great, and the style from zero looks meh. But it tells the story and the issue was only 99 cents. Maybe they saved some money by going with that artist, or they were able to pump it out fast to give folks a primer. The fact that they did have the preview in the back was a good idea, and it let you know what the new art style would be like.

As for that Bodog thing, I will pass. Doesn't sound interesting at all to me.

And on another completely unrelated note, I just want to say thanks for the previos recomendation of The Foundation. That's amazing, and issue 5 is the comic I'm looking forward to above all others. Even the afterwards in the back by Waid is entertaining. Really great comic. If anyone hasn't been picking this up, get the trade.

In DC, you might try checking out what Geoff Johns is doing over in Action Comics (starting in #858), it's been pretty amazing.....

I second that recommendation. Geoff Johns is doing some great stuff over in Action Comics (and everything else he is writing is great too).

I've never been one to read Superman titles. If I'm not mistaken, isn't Gary Frank doing the artwork on Johns' run? If so, I'll continue to pass, Frank does nothing for me.

I agree that Countdown and the DCU line in general has been very disappointing over the past year. I consider the Countdown brand one of the biggest flops in recent history, not in terms of just sales, but in quality of story. It reminds me of the 90s comics, which is not a good thing. As with Bob, I have been buying more Marvel than DC and I am more excited for the Marvel line as a whole.

That said, the only exceptions are the comics written by either Geoff Johns or Grant Morrison. Those two are some great stuff over at DC Comics. If there is someone that could make me forget how awful Countdown was is Morrison. A few months ago I was more excited for SI than FC, but now, I think I am more excited for FC because of Morrison. I know that it is going to be a crazy ride.

Understandable but unfortunate. The Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes story in Action was great.
