JMS certainly succeeded in changing WW......

While Diana has killed when necessary (like w/Max Lord), her new attitude seems to go against the core of the character (at least for me).....

From WW #701:
I'm going to kill them. I'm going to kill ALL of them.
There is certainly cause for some character OTHER than Diana to have this sentiment, but it's not a WW I'm thrilled about reading.

JMS

JMS has his own agenda. Consistency of character? Bah! That's just troublesome continuity standing in the way of monumental storytelling!

Like having Superman walk across the country and fix cars.

You buying any of this?

Well, so far, she hasn't actually killed anybody. That counts for something.

I'm reading Superman #701 now and find Superman's actions fairly objectionable and out of character. And I don't mean him helping fix the car.

True, but just expressing the sentiment out loud is disturbing for WW, but then again, this is not WW.....

She has almost always been enough of a "warrior" for me to let that slide. While this isn't Wonder Woman, at least is is clearly not Wonder Woman. The storyline provides a reason for her to act differently. No such reason exists over in Superman to explain or justify his actions.

Guys...this is JMS. He's getting to the CORE of the character. He's stripping each of them down to their essence and putting them in real-world situations. WW and Supes are out of touch, clearly! I bet they don't even know what Twitter is!

I guess I just never realized what a huge jerk Superman was at his CORE.

To be fair, a lot of people are liking the new direction. In general, it seems DC was successful, most people I have heard of liking it fell into "I never liked the character before" camp, so appealing to new readers.

Unfortunately, in the process they lost some (not all) of the readers who liked the characters already.

Now my take is that DC missed a golden opportunity hear. If they had decided to us this version of Wonder Woman as the Earth One Wonder Woman I think a lot more people not only would have bought this, but would be greatly enjoying this. They could have then kept the "regular" Wonder Woman and all of those fans happy.

On a side note, where is Wonder Woman coming in on the Diamond sales report with this new direction? Is it significantly higher, lower, or around the same? I noticed that when the 600 issue of WW came out, it didn't even crack the top 20 (I think it came in at 24 if I remember correctly). That is a HUGE deal to me, as these anniversary issues should always see a jump up, Especially the big 3. Not having Diana in the top 10 for an anniversary like this had to have been noticed by someone over at DC, and I'm sure has them scratching their heads, wondering how to change that, and if JMS can make the title more accessible to all.

When I heard that JMS was turning Superman into Kwai Chang Kal-El I knew it was not for me. I like my Superman to act like a Super man. I have no doubt that some people are liking the new direction and I hope the sales for Superman increase but I never been the biggest Superman fan in the first place, so it takes something big to get me to buy Superman.

So JMS resorted to reusing a line from that Ninja Assassin movie he scripted?

That's actually a really good idea. Too bad the powers that be @ DC weren't thinking like this.
