Coming in late to this one:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hbc ... -paperback

Looks like a fun series! I'm in for $24 for the signed set of issues #1-7.......

Not sure if this will fund, only 31 hours to go....

Just pledged this one:
Paradox Vol. 1
126 color pages! A cowboy and a teenage girl clean up history, whether history wants it or not. Dinosaurs! Robots! Jokes!
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jac ... adox-vol-1

You can read the whole 1st issue here:
http://paradoxcomic.com/issue-one/

I loved the 1st issue, that sold me on backing the project.

John, I think this one is right up your alley...

I'm a fan of the comic, but it is very dark and perverse. Be forewarned.

There are previews of the comic on the page, and at http://www.arseniclullabies.com

There are also some postings on his site explaining why he had to go this route, which are interesting, if not depressing.

The $ to reward ratio is fair on this one.

I'm backing this, I LOVE AL.

Hit the $14k goal, now the $20 book will not only signed with a sketch, but will ALSO be a HC.

People who pledged at lower levels might want to bump up the pledge a bit to get what is now a HC (and I've seen other Kickstarters charge $40-$50 for a similar item).

Sweet!

35 hrs to go. It would be nice to see this hit the "400 backers" stretch goal.

I can't seem to find a note as to how long the "graphic novel" is in terms of pagecount. Is it there somewhere?

It's something like 64 pages. Definitely worth it for the $4 PDF, debatable, unless you really love it, on whether you want the HC.

Thanks, Bob. I've enjoyed their stuff but it isn't can't miss for me. It is quality work, though. I first came across it back at SPACE in Columbus Ohio in 2004 - so they've been at it for a while.

You can't pop $4 for a 64 page PDF? Sounds like it's "must miss" for you.

This is getting backed once I figure out what kidney I need to sell. :)

I've been an Elmore fan since my DnD playing days and his old Snarfquest 'toon in the back pages of Dragon Magazine. This should be a beautiful book for any fantasy fan! It's already funded but I *have* to have this one...

Thanks for the heads up, Al! With the various stretch goals added in the $49 FAN package seems like a pretty good deal, and I'm a big fan of Larry Elmore way back to Snarfquest in Dragon Magazine myself.

I saw this page, and I thought I would bring it to everyone's attention. The next chapter of the The Black Coat is up for a Kickstarter drive.

Hmmm. I liked the previous "Black Coat" series BUT....

He wants $15 for the softcover of the 66 page GN. Let's look at some things:

* 66 pages is pretty light to call something a Graphic Novel, imo. It's 3 issues worth of content.

* He's already stated that if he can get people to fund him creating it, then Ape will generously publish it (at no production cost to themselves).
I'm getting pretty sick of publishers laying off their production costs on kickstarter patrons.

* There's no way Ape will try to sell a 66 page GN for $15. I'm going to hang out, see if some other people fund this, and I'll buy the thing via DCBS (I'm guessing retail of maybe $8.99) for $5.99 with a 30% discount.

PS: Thanks for pointing out the Kickstarter. I'm glad I saw it, even though I won't support it.

It's been a while since I felt compelled to back a Kickstarter. Here's one that caught my eye:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/837 ... phic-novel
Book of Da is a 148 page, 5.5" X 8.5" B/W Cloth-bound Graphic Novel. It's a deep-sea adventure story with elements of science-fiction, fantasy, western, and mythology.

The Diver is an explorer above all. More Jacques Cousteau than Steve Irwin, he is curious but careful. The sea welcomes his gentle curiosity until he meets Da.

Da is the emotions of the sea. If Da likes you, then the fish like you. But, behind his placid face, Da demands obedience. If he doesn't get it, be prepared to see a new side of him.

The Reverend regales a rapt congregation with the story of Da and the Diver. He is highly theatrical and charismatic. But, he knows something he's not telling.
$15 for the HC? I have to support this, many kickstarters barely give you a physical comic for this price.

For $50 you get a whole bunch of stuff, including a page of 11x17 OA from the book!

In an e-mail where I from the Ashes trade I backed:
You will not be getting an Ashes trade.

(wait - what? :( )

You will be getting a circa 450-page cased hardcover of Smoke AND Ashes. Signed by me. The extra-signed copies will also be signed by most of the artists. This is the good news. The slightly poor news is that you will have to wait for September as I am piggybacking the 1,000-copy cased HC run on the larger trade paperback run of the book.
That's pretty freakin' cool. I mean, we've had to wait forever and ever for the thing, but in my mind this is making it right. Good lookin' out Alex. $30 bills shipped for a hardcover, slip-cased collection. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/563 ... nd-jimmy-b
