Way late on this but I tried Air #1 last night. I then went on to read #2 and then stopped reading all together. This book is not for me. I've heard good things about it but the trade is going back to the library ASAP!

As you say, not for you. I stopped after 6 issues myself. Any book (even those that lots of people rave about) is not going to click with everyone.

I felt the same way about "Mysterius the Unfathomable". Lots of folks raved about this one, but it was unfathomable to me.

Uncanny X-Force #1 - This was a step backwards in the wrong direction from the previous X-Force. I loved the Kyle and Yost stuff so much and then read this. Another downfall was Deadpool was in it and and really don't like that character. Still getting it though to see where it goes. I still like the fact that Wolverine and Archangel are still on the team.

Deadpool Max #1 - Why did I get this? I bought it strictly for my love of Kyle Baker and David Lapham. I hate Deadpool but this was a creator purchase. Well my love for the creators could not save my hate for Deadpool. It is yellow but not because of the creators. The story and artwork are good but it is Deadpool.

Edge of Doom #1
Steve Niles and Kelly Jones tell a story of a recently divorced man who finds strange creatures in his back yard. Loved it.

Turok Son of Stone (Dark Horse) - This had a lot of action and the art was great. This was a good story like Magnus Robot Fighter and unlike the awful Doctor Solar. I'd like to continue with this one.

Klaws of the Panther #1 (Marvel) - This is a decent story in the savage land. I enjoy Shuri as a character. I think she's a strong variation on the original Black Panther. The art fits the savage land well. This is one where it would've been nice if it was 2.99 instead of 3.99. It doesn't really mean anything to the big picture of the Marvel U. But then again not much does. This is only a four issue mini-series so I'll finish it out.

Pilot Season: Forever #1 (Image/Top Cow) As I have said before I really did the concept behind Pilot Season. This is the kind of story I think of when Pilot Season was announced. The story has a great concept, and it is executed well. The story is about a worker whose company promises to extend your life beyond the norm for a price. As one would guess their is a high price for that process. The issue ends on a bit of a cliffhanger which is the only negative I can think of.

Pilot Season: Crosshairs #1 (Image/Top Cow) While the concept is not as strong as Forever this is a solid issue. The story is a cross between Burn Notice and The Bourne Identity. I liked the story, but I am not sure I would want to buy the series monthly.

I felt the same way. Didn't make it past the 1st issue (it was oversized, so figured I'd had a big enough taste). IT had the earmarks of the kind of comic I would be inclined to like - but I just wasn't picking up a good vibe off of it.

I read the first trade, but had no desire to read past that. Wow, no love for that book round these parts, eh? For the record I did like the first issue, just not where it went after that.

Star Wars Knight Errant Aflame #1 (Dark Horse) - This one didn't grab me, which is too bad because I had high hopes. I liked the idea of a strong female central character, Kerra Holt, as a Jedi. The story was sort of cliche, young warrior coming of age story. The artwork didn't do anything for me. It was a little too far in the realistic mode, kind of, sort of like Tony Moore's artwork on Ex Machina. The major villian guy had an out of place looking hands free mic. It's far in the future, but he's got a large mic at his mouth. Not a bad comic (3 out of 5), and it'll probably get better. I might check it out again down the road from the dollar bins.

I read the following #1s today (all were $3.99), I won't be returning for #2 on any of these, however I WOULD have come back for #2 had they been $2.99, except for Generation Hope.

Captain America: Man Out of Time #1 (Marvel) - Perfectly adequate re-telling of Cap's history with some new scenes. Not something I need to read again for $3.99 a pop.

Generation Hope #1 (Marvel) - Another "not a #1" first issue. This is continuing out of some X-book I have not been reading. Did not catch my interest, felt like walking into the middle of a movie. Best part about the book was "The Saga of Hope" in the back, which has me convinced I can keep up on the goings on by reading Wikipedia, I don;t need to read this $3.99 comic.

Iron Man/Thor #1 (Marvel) - Didn't really pack much a punch for me, I like Abnett/Lanning better on the cosmic stuff. I'd be on board at $2.99, but the extra $1 has this on my "I don't think so" list.

Warriors Three #1 (Marvel) - Another book that was OK, but not GREAT. This makes it fall below my "willing to pay $3.99 for this" threshold.

Batman/Catwoman: Follow the Money #1 (DC) - If you like Howard Chaykin, you'll probably like this. Classic (e.g. great) Chaykin art and a decent story. If you don't like Chaykin, steer clear.

Superboy #1 (DC) - Mediocre as a 1st issue, I thought a better job could have been done to tie this in to previous Superboy solo stories. Looks like some good stuff coming, though. For $2.99, I'm on board with this series.

Batman: The Return / Batman, Inc #1 (DC) - Aside from being mis-titled (Batman did not return in "The Return", nor did he incorporate in "Incorporated") these were pretty good reads. I thought "The Return" should have been Batman, Inc #0.

Days Missing: Kestus#1 (Archaia) - Very cool story, solid follow-on to 1st Days Missing series (which I highly recommend checking out in trade if you missed it the 1st time around. Here we get a little more insight into the Caretaker & his (adversary?) Kestus.

R.P.M. #1 (12 Gauge) - OK comic, kind of like "The Fast & the Furious" crossed with DC's "Rush". Kind of cool 'power' for main hero character that allows him to drive crazy-fast. Good for fans of the "driving cars/chase" genre of action films.

Hellboy: Double Feature of Evil#1 (Dark Horse) - Nice stand-alone set of Hellboy stories written by Mignola. If you're a fan of Rich Corben's art (I am) then this is not to be missed.

Punisher: Tiny Ugly World #1 (Marvel) - This was a good story, but I felt kind of dirty after having read it. Writing stuff like this & Crossed, I have to worry a little bit about David Lapham. Kind of glad he's not my neighbor, dude has some seriously twisted stuff rolling around in his head.

Edge of Doom #1 & 2 (IDW) - This is a mini, but each issue is a self-contained "Twilight Zone" kind of story. As a result, you can't really judge an issue based on any other. I thought #1 was kind of weak/predictable, but #2 was an excellent read. Nice setup that was really cool and segued into an extremely cool twist ending I didn't see coming. Skip #1, buy #2.

Lady Mechanika #1 (Aspen) - Great art & a building mystery in the story. A lot is left unsaid/unknown, but I didn't mind, for some reason. A must for any Steampunk fans.

Lone Justice Volume 1 (IDW) - Rich masked man loses his fortune and learns that life isn't a party. We learn he is narcissistic, ignorant of the poor, ignorant of corruption, etc. Once respected by his friends, but now is disliked by them.

I just read this tonight and it really affected me. I think current events helped to add to the experience.

This was released in October but is offered again in the December previews. Also, the second volume is in the December previews.
