What cracked me up was in Nightwing. Someone attacks Dick, he disappears for a second to put on his "mask", then he comes out and the villain says "Hey, Dick has you protecting him huh?" Wow ....

For those in crisis over Crisis, let me clarify. The topic of Crisis was much discussed among the editors and talent working on The New 52. With so many characters and histories restarting, major events like Crisis are harder to place when they work for some and not for others. (that was one of the problems coming out of the original Crisis). While we are starting aprx five years into our heroes’ lives, we are focused on the characters present and future, and past histories will be revealed as the stories dictate. Yes, there have been “crisis” in our characters lives, but they aren’t exactly the Crisis you read before, they can’t be. Now, what this means for characters seen and unseen…… well, that’s the fun of The New 52, infinite stories, infinite possibilities, with the best yet to come.

So when Hawk mentioned a "crisis", it was not what we thought it was.....

I like continuity to be respected in general but I don't feel creative teams need to be a slave to it either. I have no problem with Didio's post

To me, the existence, or lack of existence, of an in-continuity crisis involving an infinite number of earths, or just infinite in nature, has no impact on whether the comic I am reading is a good story or not.

Also, kinda interesting that Flashpoints trump Crisis.

Love the Publisher Spotlights on the New 52. Just a lot of fun.

A couple of things that just show the amazing way comics work for some but not for others:

It week 2 of the podcasts, you guys gave a really favorable review of Mr. Terrific. I thought it was a really bad book and it's probably my least favorite book of the New 52. I felt it had some of the most artificial and forced racial dialogue I had ever seen and the art was a mess, mainly the wildly inconsistent faces.

On the flip side I enjoyed Grifter. Loved the art and never noticed the out of whack environments. The story had it's share of question marks, but I'm on board.

One more quick point. I remember DC saying a couple of different times that Green Lantern and Batman weren't going to change all that much in the New 52. I noticed you guys took points away from Green Lantern for not feeling fresh and new. But they never intended it to feel fresh and new. Being their best sellers, they are keeping them on track.

Anyway, just some points for discusion. Love the podcasts. Keep 'em coming!

Batman is clearly the better book. But Batman was also at an entirely different point in it's story. Bruce coming back, etc. After War of the Green Lanterns: Aftermath it was pretty clear that those events weren't going to be the way the old storyline ended.

I was on the fence about Mr. Terrific, it's not yet earned a slot on my pull list. I had some issues with the dialogue also.

I wasn't necessarily looking for the Batman/GL to be "fresh & new", but I WAS looking for them to be good #1 issues. There's a difference there.

Whether it was intended to be a "reboot/relaunch" or not, it still has a #1 on the cover.

If you put a #1 on the cover, you should go out of your way to make the book accessible and not have it feel like it's completely interchangeable as issue #68 of the previous series.

That's a valid point. And Trev gets to the difference between GL #1 and Batman #1. Batman is a tighter yet more welcoming first issue. Anxious to hear the new podcast to get your takes on it.

I agree, I very much liked the 'white king' version as built by Greg Rucka, and the Geoff Johns version. Not sure about this one, which is more Stark crossed with Pym and the flashpoint Thomas Wayne.

True. And again, the ridiculous dialogue and forced racial....commentary I guess? It just didn't work for me on any level and that's a shame.

Btw, Mister Terrific says he's the third smartest .... are we supposed to know who is 1 and 2? or is that just a "humorous" statement.

That's a holdover from pre-Flashpoint.

EDIT: Looks like they have never actually named #1 & 2, though he's been "3rd smartest for a while".

Eric Wallace: I'm not telling you, but I know the answers. The real question is… does Michael know who #1 and #2 are? And yes, this is something we actually deal with early on in the series.

maybe it's some effort to draw a tighter analogue to Pym? isn't he the '3rd smartest' in the Marvel U?

Maybe this started as some kind of avengers story and morphed from there?
