I'm not going to defend Wizard and their VIP tixs, I see JLA's point quite clearly. However my wife and I attended our first Wizard show this year in LA and we loved it. We flew in and stayed a block away from the center. We did purchase the VIP tixs because we had already paid for air, hotel, car and food, what was a few bucks more?
We bought the cheapest VIP packet available and then did what JLA mention, sold the stuff on ebay when we got back and made the difference on VIP and regular tixs back. We however didn't grab all the show exclusives but saw plenty who were. Spent all our time at artist alley and got a TON of great art. I think between the two of us we came away with 36 pieces of original art.
All that being said, WWTX guest list is very nice looking so far and if I was a little close to TX I'd probably go, I would however pass on VIP tixs.

To me this is no different the going to San Diego Con and Pre-Ordering Toys and status and then going to the booth to pick them up. Same concept to me.JLAFan wrote:I realize you don't have to buy a VIP pass. That is what I am going to do.
I've been to WW LA on a regular pass while they let all the VIP people in before me, they grabbed up all the stuff like the tickets to get in the "Stan Lee Autograph Line" even though most of them didn't want them. Then, when I got in later, no tickets for autographs left to be had. The VIPs got them all. Lots of VIPs were willing to sell me a Stan ticket for $20.....
This is the kind of thing that made that my last Wizard show....
Again, just my personal take on it.

I am mystified at how you can not see a difference.comicm wrote:To me this is no different the going to San Diego Con and Pre-Ordering Toys and status and then going to the booth to pick them up. 1) San Diego does not charge an extra $100 to pre-order toys
2) I don't even really have a problem with the toys, it's more the "limited autograph signing" tickets that were all gobbled up by VIPs who didn't even want them and were then just trying to scalp them to regular patrons.

I think you're going to have to make do with hanging around with the Half-Hour Wasted crew, Trev.Trev wrote:I've got my tix and will be there next weekend all day Friday and Sat. I'll probably be there for at least 1/2 of Sunday, but then driving back to Austin. Anybody else going? Any interest in meeting up post-con one day?
John & I are skipping WW Texas.......
My next con will be Phoenix in January.....
