so we finally have the full list of the villain's month titles, there are only 52 issues (plus issue #1 of the Forever Evil mini) as promised. Interestingly they spread those 52 issues out over only 18 titles.

And Now I get to look forward (really) to a new 52 Villains Omnibus. Nice.

These sorts of naming/numbering gimmicks makes tracking titles much more convoluted than needed.

Would 52 new #1s that only lasted one issue make it easier? (eg. Darkseid #1 instead of Justice League #23.1)

Fair question.
I'm leaning towards a bunch of one-shots being the better option. That would make them clearly stand alone titles while the .1, .2, .3, .4 numbering sets the expectation of a continued story. The solicits indicate they are one shot stories with minimal, if any connection between the .1, .2, .3, .4 issues of a title.
One shots would also probably result in higher sales than the .2, .3 and .4 issues are likely to get since fewer people are likely to get a #x.2 than a #1 issue.

The other question is if these issues are going to interrupt storylines like some of the #0 issues did last year. Hopefully the creative teams and edits knew about this far enough in advance that won't be a problem.

Took a gander at the September solicits. Noticed a limited number of DC's titles are receiving the 'Forever Evil' crossover. My first thought is - Will my LCS pull the multiple issues for the DC titles I read? Will they pull all 4 Batman, 3 Flash, and 4 GL (my normal DC pull is each of those titles plus Constantine and New Guardians)? That is 6 more issues from DC than I normally purchase. That definitely cuts into my budget or I have to make the choice of not picking up quite a few of the the other series I'm reading.
How will this effect the LCS's? They have to decide what to order soon. Many of their customers don't have titles shipping in September and many others have multiples of the same titles. Readers with pull lists should let their LCS owners know what not to order or the LCS needs to reach out to their customer base. Has anyone talked to any LCS owner about how they are calculating the September DC solicits?
After reading the latest Mayo Report on CBR, I'm interested in effect the 'Forever Evil' crossover will have on "sell-in" and "sell-through" numbers.

I'm a DC guy and have usually defended the things they do, or at least gave the books a chance to come out and myself the chance to read them before complaining but this is simply a mess. I'm trying to give DC the benefit of the doubt hear, but they have completely bumbled this whole thing. To make such a big deal about these covers and raise the price on everything to $3.99 to only tell people they won't fulfill the orders placed is honestly insulting. For people that wanted the $2.99 version they should have solicited them at the same time. Not be forced to do it because they couldn't deliver on what they promised.
Dan Didio tweeted about how they had to place the orders before the solicit period and had no way to know the orders. Then they should have over-ordered by a lot. Every month DC asks their resellers and fans to gamble on an unknown by pre-ordering, we now know that DC doesn't have the guts to do what they ask the fans and resellers to do. They ordered low to cover their own butts, something they ask the fans and resellers not to do. If they had faith in these dumb covers they would have solicited them together with the $2.99 versions, instead of insuring these gimmick covers sold out first, and then not deliver on a promise. Adding a 1:25 variant with this same cover stunt to Forever Evil is even more insulting

Wow. What a way to mishandle the situation and under cut the 3D covers.
If I'd had the option of getting the dollar cheap version, I might have done so. At the very least I'd have considered it. As it is, since those will be "second prints," I do want the 3D versions I ordered since those are "first prints". It creates the odd situation in which each set of covers is both more and less desireable than the other set.

But 'desirable' based on what ? Resale value ? Novelty ? Less expensive / more expensive ? Isn't the story what should be selling these ? (naive aren't I)

Not that it really changes anyones opinion, DC claims the books that ship at $2.99 same day as the others will be listed as first printings.
I also wonder how stores that take preorders will handle this since they may not get enough to fill the preorders, DC said stores will be allotted somewhere from 50%-near a 100% of their preorder based on past sales and the print run DC has of the 3D covers, but apparently certain books they are really short on and no store will get near their full order of.

That will vary from person to person. Some will want the cheaper version. Some will want the 3D covers.
And, yes, the story *should* be selling these but clearly that isn't the case since most of the hype and promotion has been around the covers (or the titles and numbering), not the content.

John did you get the email from DCBS service? I did they were looking for volunteers to get the 1st print 2-D covers or the 2nd Print 3-D Covers that will be released in September. I am going to gamble and hope for the best as I ordered the bundle. I hope I get them but to ensure I got them I ordered another from my local shop. I saw his allocations and they were crazy.
Darkseid - Ordered 53 and is receiving 50 (not bad)
Justice League Dial E - Ordered 50 and getting 26
Swamp Thing Arcane Ordered 30 and getting 11
Anyway there are crazy allocations on these books but I know I will get at least one full set and those that I get doubles of I am going to send to a friend.

I got the email from DCBS. Drew and I discussed it on the episode going up on Monday, August 26th (which we record a week early because of my schedule).
I opted not to gamble on getting a complete set of the 3D covers since having some 3D and some 2D would have annoyed me. So, I went with the first print set of the 2D covers, saving $26 in the process. I figured that took one person out of the "who gets which cover" dilemma for DCBS. Since DC couldn't get the solicitation cycle worked out to order based on demand, I didn't see the need to support the gimmick covers. Frankly, had that option been offered originally, I very well might have taken it then.
The allocation you mention of the Arcane issue surprises me since I thought retailers were told they'd get at least 50% of what they ordered.
