I finally got around to putting up some of my haul from LBCC 2011. It was a great show with great people. Bob B. is always a good to visit with and got to meet many other new people as well that I hope to see in the future. Bought some prints and some comics (but none of them are the new fifty-two so I am sure you don't want to hear about that. Let's get to the art.
For those of you unfamiliar with my posts, I like the character Marshal Law created by Pat Mills and Kevin O'Neall. I have a crappy scanner and it is almost criminal that I subject any artwork to it. Rest assured, everything looks much better in person. It is also small, so many of these pieces are somewhat cropped but that looks better than just using my camera (which I had to use on one piece that was just too big).
Tony Fleecs. What more need I say? He did that amazing Scarlet Witch dissolving sketch cover for me last year. He also does amazing prints that evoke old timey paperback covers (We have some of those of course). I also picked up his books and enjoyed those. Check him out.

Chris Houghton is half of the team behind the Image comic breakout hit, Reed Gunther, the bear-riding cowboy. The all-age appropriate, but fun for adults book staring Reed and Sterling (he is the bear). Bob B. has recommended this book and so do I. The first trade is hitting the LCS near you. See for yourself why this is just the lastest hot new hit from Image.

Norm Rapmund. Many times I like to find newer artists but here is a consumate professional and such a nice man. A DC stallwart, you can find his inking work on Teen Titans and he is also soon to be doing inks on the Firestorm book. He was very gracious and it was nice for me to get a take from a classic, big two super hero artist. If you get the chance, stop by and see him at a con.
Charlie Mok. Sometimes you just walk artist's alley and let the artwork catch your eye. He is a San Francisco artist that I was not familiar with but his haunting rendition really stays with you.

Ahh Dan Smith, I just can't get enough of his stuff. I picked up his first issue of Blue Knights which is a great book. I can't wait for issue two. I have posted his Marshal Law and his other sketch covers in the past. Great artist with a sense of humor.

This one was really too big for the scanner. This is the artist, Anthony Diecidue, currently working on the excellent Moriarty book from Image comics. Bob picked up two pieces from him at this con. He really had a stack of great work in black and white and red. I would LOVE to see an issue of Moriarty done in that style. He went crazy on this piece and you would call me the greatest criminal mastermind if I told you how little I paid. Check out some nice samples here:

Mark Dos Santos. I wish you could see the facial expressions. Mark is another great artist of whom my wife has bought a ton of prints. She commissioned a Delirum (DC Vertigo) from him and I knew it was only a matter time of before I got a Marshal Law. He did not disapoint.

Bob Layton. Boy, this one did cause me pause. How could I not get an Iron Man from Bob Layton? Well I am currently getting Marshal Law and Bob Layton was kind enough to draw one for me. I think it was his first.
I hope you enjoy these.
