(wait - what? :( )

You will be getting a circa 450-page cased hardcover of Smoke AND Ashes. Signed by me. The extra-signed copies will also be signed by most of the artists. This is the good news. The slightly poor news is that you will have to wait for September as I am piggybacking the 1,000-copy cased HC run on the larger trade paperback run of the book.
That's pretty freakin' cool. I mean, we've had to wait forever and ever for the thing, but in my mind this is making it right. Good lookin' out Alex. $30 bills shipped for a hardcover, slip-cased collection. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/563 ... nd-jimmy-b
Almost two years seems too long to me. Is this typical for a Kickstarter? I've never backed one and I don't think I'd have that kind of patience.

It's not common. This one was a soap opera - that Alex was happy to update us with :P . I did IDrawComics, which was also not complete when it was funded, and that one took a few months at most to get the books in our hot little hands.

I have a few that are taking their time - but the writers have been in almost constant communication for the most part, explaining what happened and where they are in the process, etc.

Got my trade of Unsounded last night and it looks VERY nice...just like something you'd walk into a comic book store and pick up. My wife was even impressed enough to want to read it.

The Graphic Textbook Kickstarter I backed mid last year has certainly taken a long time. I have long since gotten my copy of Action Philosophers, but the Graphic Textbook and Reading With Pictures were both estimated to be March 2013 delivery. They did update to say that Spring was the earliest we would see those. So, I knew that going in it would be a while.

Also, I decided to back this http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/127 ... t-happened

I'm a sucker for documentaries and this one really hits my comic and film nerd itch.

Some go according to schedule & some drag out WAAAAAY longer.

It's kind of a crapshoot.

I think it takes a certain kind of mindset to be a kickstarter supporter.

I hope this documentary gets made, but I'll just buy it after it's done.

$25 for a digital download & $40 for a DVD seems WAY too much $$ to me.

I'd be willing to go $10 for the download & $25 for a physical copy, tops.

Honestly, for the most part, I do agree. It seems like some kickstarters cost a good deal more than what I would expect to pay in the store. But I just want the documentary to get made, so I'm willing to deal with it this time.

Yeah, some kickstarters have very reasonable prices & some seem super-expensive.

I skip them if they are not in the "I think they're reasonable" category.

No lie, when I go through a kickstarter I'm strongly thinking of supporting, I try and imagine what Bob would say about it. :) I've actually backed off supporting a few because it was too much money for too little return.

We need to make WWBBD bracelets for deal-shoppers! :)

Forget just the deal shoppers. I am going to make T-Shirts and sell them outside of comic shops and churches.
"WWBBD"
(With a copy of PREACHER #1 underneath)
:D

I just pledged for this Kickstarter. It's a fanzine dedicated to Steve Ditko that has been around since the 80's

$6 for a PDF and the actually magazine.

Great deal for any Ditko fans. Not sure how the guy is making money, it's only $4 for the actual magazine (no PDF).

Well, he does makes them at home with his copier, a stapler, and a red ball point. I'm sure it's more a labor of love for this guy.

It is only $2.50 from his website. You can go ahead and subscribe to a year(4 issues) for $10. Heck of a deal.

I find that awesome.
