This is the place to discuss the episodes of the Comic Book Page podcast, the Comic Book Page website or pretty much anything else of interest to the Comic Book Page community...

Have you dealt with Pee Wee Comics over at Comic Collector Live?
I have not, though I just checked them out and I have 2 observations:
1) They are in California, and so would charge me sales tax. This means I would not order from them unless they had prices good enough to offset the 8.75% extra, this is not a negative for folks living somewhere outside of CA.
2) For the stuff I am looking for, they do not seem to have compellingly cheaper prices. Lots of stuff I found on other shops for 50 cents they have for $1, stuff I found elsewhere for $1, they have for $1.50, $1.99, or even higher (this is based on a spot check of stuff on my wish list from the 1990s through the present).
Anyway, I tend to bypass shops in CA when shopping on the internet to avoid sales tax while that loophole still exists.....
Here's an example of "shop around to get the best deals" that makes CCL a great place for buyers and maybe not the best place for sellers who want to get top dollar on books from the last 15-20 years:
Niteowl Comics: on the face of it, a pretty good sale. Free shipping on orders of $25 or more, with 50% off on orders of $50 or more. Wow! 50% off! Except: on closer examination, I find that they have 5 comics on my wishlist at 99 cents or $1. It them moves quickly to $2, then $3 or even $4 for comics that I am finding at a number of other CCL shops for 50 cents and $1 to $1.50. In fact, I found a number of $3 books here that I found the same books for $1 elsewhere.
Moral of the story: shop around to find the best deals for what you're looking for, especially if a dealer wants >$1 for a book you're looking for.
EDIT: After I got these, I'd have to say, most (90%) were not bagged/boarded and if you are a stickler on grading, I'd say 75% were not NM either, mostly VF. For 88 cents a piece, though, that was OK for me.

I deleted my e-mail from them. Can you tell me what the passcode is?
Thanks.

This week you'll save another 5% off pre-1981 issues, and 10% off modern-era issues in sale groups Marvel A-L titles, Batman titles, War comics, and Romance comics in our back issue comics selection.
Big October sale at one of my favorite CCL vendors, Aardvark's. 50% off their already great prices if you spend $100. They have lots of great stuff for $1, which makes it 50 cents. Get $100 of stuff for $50!!
I don't order nearly as much as anyone here and I don't really care about grading, but I can second the crack about Mile High back issues. Although I used to mail order my current issues from them in the late '80s (basically DCBS style) and got a good discount. Now, I only order stuff from them if I really need it and can't find it elsewhere or don't feel like waiting to back issue dive at a con. I will give them credit as I recently placed an order and they sent me the issue from Vol 1, instead of Vol 2. They sent me the correct issue for free shipping and did not seek return of the incorrect book. Of course it was a $2 sale book (that if I could have found would have been 50 cents at any con) but still they probably fixed the problem free of charge and I got a free book (however worthless).
I used comic collector live for the first time last week, pretty happy with it. In fact the guy I bought from had feedback left from Bob so I knew I was buying from a good guy!!
I may be a strict grader but I ordered probably 50 or so comics from mycomicshop.com and I had to send back probably 10 or so because they weren't NM. First of all, sending comics with no boards is pretty bad if you ask me. But they also had defects to make them VF anyway.
They did give me a refund, even for shipping them back, but now I can't buy from them anymore. I guess they blocked me because they overgrade NM.
I don't think I'm too strict either, but a comic with 4-5 spine creases and a banged up corner? Not NM.
I do have to say though, along with what I think Bob said, I bought a F book and it was pretty nice, much more like VF+. So maybe it's just the NM newer books they have a problem with.
Back Issue Comic Sales: WOULD YOU CALL THE GRADING Very accurate, they even use a number system. If they call something 9.2 or higher, it's a really nice NM book. GENERAL PRICING: Cheap for books that aren't worth anything to begin with, but pricey books are borderline high. For example, I think a typical $20 book will sell for $18.99 or so. SELECTION: I've only shopped for Spider-Man and they have a good amount. They don't have many independent publishers though. SPECIAL DISCOUNTS YOU'VE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF Other than combined shipping, don't know of any. DOES THE SITE OFFER SPECIAL DISCOUNTS VIA EMAIL LIST?: Don't know. IF YES, HOW DO I SIGN UP?
SHIPPING: They ship very well packaged and pretty cheap, and very fast. If I pay on Monday, I'd probably have them by Thursday. APPRAISAL: 5 out of 5 stars.
I've probably ordered 80 or so comics from them and had a problem with 2 or 3 being more like VF. They refunded and said 'keep the comics'.

I'm not a super harsh grader of comics but I do tend to only order the highest grades from MyComicShop.com because of these kinds of lax grading standards they have.
