DCBS Q&A

Post by BobBretall »

John and Bob both buy a LOT of stuff every month from DCBS, and have been customers for quite a long time (Bob since Oct 2005, John since quite a bit before that).

As a result, we know a bit about the site & stuff related to being a customer (though neither of us use the "on-line ordering", we both download the Excel Spreadsheet).

Anyway, if you want an honest opinion from another customer, post it here, we (or other listeners who are also customers) will do our best to answer.

PS: Although we talk about DCBS all the time, we do this because we're happy customers. DCBS is not a sponsor of the show. We don't have sponsors.

I placed my first order with DCBS on November 29th, 2003 which included items from the previous few months of Previews and my first weekly shipment went out the next day.

Do you have a promo code for first time DCBS users?

Just use the existing code that will give you 8% off your first order (DISC8).

We didn't see the point in creating a replica code since well known codes already existed (especially since there is no sponsor relationship that would make it matter if someone went to DCBS from our show as opposed to anywhere else in the world).

Exactly. Just use the DISC8 code. You get the discount, DCBS gets the business and we're all happy.

How do you go about making your monthly payment? Do you do it when you submit your order? Do you submit your order then make the payment by a certain day of the month?

I submit my order using the Excel file and there is a place in it for the credit card information. Once they have that, you can just put "On File" for that and not include the credit card information every month. They then run the charge on the 15th of the following month. So, the April 2008 order I just sent in this past weekend will hit my credit card in about two weeks around the 15th of May.

The good part about using a credit card is this:

My April list gets charged by DCBS on May 15th.

I get the CC bill around June 8th & have a while to pay.

My check gets cashed by the credit card company around the end of June/Early July.

The April books (mostly) ship in July. SO, I'm not really paying money out of my bank account that much in advance of getting the books......

I agree Bob, except for when you pre-order the DC Direct stuff. It is solicited way in advance and most of the time they come out late.

Agreed. Certain things are solicited WAY in advance, I was speaking in the context of most normal on-time comics...

The DCBS sheet is up!

I need to cut down the amount of comics/ trades I have been getting, as I have been adding new books without dropping.

I have been getting almost every Modern Marvel Masterwork since last year but might passed on the Defenders. Although I loved the Defenders as a child, the early stuff, if I recall correctly, was ok. The best thing was the Defenders/ Avengers war, which I already have. I probably get the Ronin Absolute instead.
