Best of 2014 Year-End Episode
We will be recording a Best of 2014 episode after the end of December. It loosely follows the Weekly Comic Spotlight Format in that it focuses on Marvel, DC and Other publisher's "best of" categories. We have expanded this year to add Image and additional miscellaneous categories. If you would like to vote, we would love to see what listeners to the show think about this year in comics. You don't have to have choices for each one (although that would be great) just the ones that stood out to you. Here are the categories we will be discussing:

Re: Best of 2014 Year-End Episode
Hey guys, listened to the episode today, great job.
You asked why I chose Batgirl as my DC series. Was it the early part of the year, the reboot, both? I thought the year started off strong, coming out of Wanted with issues 27 that was fun and then the couple of issues with Strix, then that final arc with Ragdoll, Bone Breaker and the disgraced. While I did think the relaunch was abrupt and awkward on an issue-to-issue basis I have still really enjoyed it. I didn’t want to pick Batman for everything. For overall enjoyment of each issue I can’t think of an issue of Batgirl I didn’t enjoy even if it is very different series now then when the year started.
Flash also came up as book that is doing well so why did I list it as book I wish more people were reading. It is doing well, but to me this a top 5 maybe top 3 DC book and it certainly isn't doing that well.

Re: Best of 2014 Year-End Episode
I agree that the Batgirl issues before and after the retooling were great.
The Flash title just doesn't connect with me that well and I'm not entirely sure why. I love the character of Barry Allen. Either I haven't really adopted the New 52 version as the "real version" yet or there is something else missing from the title for me.

Re: Best of 2014 Year-End Episode
Love 'Year-End' episodes. I always find great comics I missed and look back on the great reads of the year.
Sam - I completely agree with you about The Flash. Venditti and Booth are definitely creating a fun spin on Barry, Iris, etc. The colorist, Andrew Dalhouse, is making the book 'pop'; it's been extremely vibrant of late, especially with the 'blue' Flash. It is one of the better books from the New52.
One recommendation to 2015's 'Year-End' is adding Chris and Sam to the discussion. Hearing all the contributors together would be fun.

Re: Best of 2014 Year-End Episode
Scheduling multiple people gets increasingly challenging with each person added. The other thing to consider is that adding more people would make the year end episode even longer than the marathon it is. All of that having been said, remind me about this at the end of the year.SpideySavestheDay wrote:One recommendation to 2015's 'Year-End' is adding Chris and Sam to the discussion. How about "honorable mention" as the name of the comic wildcard category?drew102e wrote:Questions for Next Year's Yearly Comic Spotlight:
