Hey Everyone my names Chris, I`m 34 and I live with my wife of 5 years in New Westminster, Bc, Canada.

I`ve been a comic fan since about 1994 with my first issue being Detective Comics #675 and of course it being the 90`s it was the shiny foil cover that attracted me. After seeing something about Batman having his back broken and being replaced I decided this was my opportunity to check this stuff out.

This was the beginning of my love of all things Batman and surprisingly enough Azrael aka Jean Paul Valley quickly became my favorite comic book character. Even to this day I still have a soft spot for the guy even though he isn`t around anymore I have slowly amassed a collection of every single appearance no matter how small or insignificant.

Other characters that I have a huge love for include Batman, the Punisher, Jason Todd, Moon Knight, Daredevil, Green Arrow and The Spirit. The connecting thread that draws me to these characters and their stories is that fact for the most part they are regular people fighting the good fight without the aid of superpowers. So the street level characters at Marvel and DC are always the ones that speak to my tastes as a reader as it just feels more real. Funny enough thought I am a sucker for Events as I love a large interconnected story.

I am by far more of a DC fan so if DC has an event I`m on board all the way. On the flip side if Marvel has an event I usually only get the main series and thats it.

Also my buying has always been more character driven than who the creative team is but that has changed over the past few years. After listening to many podcasts out there my eyes were opened to all the other books out there that I was missing out on. So I have slowly branched out and now thanks to you guys BOOM is now one of my favorite publishers. I have also discovered writers like Mark Waid and Jason Aaron as well as artists like Mark Brooks, Shane Davis and Gulliem March.

So I definitely want to thank you guys especially for the previews podcasts for pointing out other publishers and showing me that there is a whole other section of previews that sin`t Marvel and DC.

I currently live in a far NW suburb or Chicago but am originally from the Twin Cities area In MN.

My interest in comics started in the 70's where I spent many summers at my grandparents farm in rural South Dakota. Whenever my grandmother would go "up town" and stop at the drug store I would be sure to load up on as many comics as I could afford.

My favorite comics at the time were all Marvel titles. I was especially fond of Spider-Man, FF, and the Avengers.

Of the two major publishers I lean more towards Marvel but I will read anything that seems interesting to me.

Compared to most I am probably a light reader as I only get around 20-30 comics a month and my current collection consists of around 36 long boxes (however many that is).

I am 46 years old, married, with 2 girls in college.

Hi. I'm Dave. I'm 49, and have read comics since I was about 8. I first started reading comics when I was in the hospital, and my mother brought
me two Batman comics---I was really a fan of the 60's TV show. These issues must've came out right after Robin left for college, because I couldn't understand why he wasn't in them. I actually drew him into the panels. Back then, I didn't know that comics would be worth anything. I ended up replacing those issues years later. My collection consists mostly of Marvel and DC, but I do have a bunch of Archie, Gold Key, Charlton, and even a few Dell comics. My two favorite characters are Superman and Spider-man.

Hello. My name is Jason Farrell. For the past few years I've hung my hat over on the 11 o'clock forum but I felt I needed a change, but not a change so drastic that it didn't include some comics talk. I've popped in here a few times and it's always seemed like a good place to hang out, so here I am.

I live in Portland, Oregon; I think loving comics might be in the water here. For the most part, I'm not a big follower of the DC or Marvel superhero universes, but I'll read anything if I hear enough good things about it, or if the creative team appeals to me.

I'm sure I won't be the borderline nuisance I was at 11 o'clock, posting all the freaking time, but I'm looking forward to getting to know a few of you. And of course, talkin' comics.

Can't wait to explore the forums and get to know some of you.

Hello everybody!

My name is Derrick and I currently live in Calgary, AB, but am soon moving to Victoria, BC with my wife of 3 years.

I had started reading comics around 2001 but had recently fallen off about 6 months ago. I'm back in now, mostly because of the new DC 52, but not buying that many issues monthly, only about 8 or so, mostly because I don't have the money. I will probably mostly be buying trades because those I can buy when I have the money. I read DC and Marvel, with a bit of indie thrown in there at times. My favourite character is Spider-Man, standard but that's what I like.

That's my comics history and buying habits, in a nutshell.

Hello everybody!

My name is Dave Beaty and I've been reading comics since my Grandfather started reading to me when I was about 5 or so. Over the years I've obviously read lots of comics and enjoyed almost all of 'em. As of this posting I'm currently reading a lot of eclectic stuff but loving Batman, Swamp Thing, and Usagi Yojimbo. I'm also a big fan of Comic Book Page.

Oh, and I'm an Pro Inker. Currently on DC Comic's Grifter!

Hi, my name is Brian and I started reading comics regularly with the launch of the New 52. I’m a 20 year old college student in Texas. I now get about 30 titles a month mostly from DC. I've started doing short reviews of what I read to be more critical of what I’m buying because I've started bumping into my monthly budget.

Welcome aboard, sir. Nice to see young comic buyers joining in on the addiction
(Be sure to check out John and Bob's podcast as well. Some good stuff)

Nice! Welcome aboard! Post some of the reviews on the forum, either in the 1st issue thread, or Marvel or DC threads, or start a new thread for them, whatever seems most appropriate!

Hi guys, have made a couple of posts in topics since joining the forum earlier this week, before noticing this introduce yourself topic- so here's a slightly belated introduction.

I'm Simon and I'm from the south coast of England, though currently living and working in a museum in Wales. I started reading in the early 90s when my Grandad bought me Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (we weren't allowed the word Ninja in the title of a kids show or comic in the UK!), The Real Ghostbusters and Roy of the Rovers from his local cornershop and I started working my way through the Tintin books from the local library. I dropped out during my teenage years and got back in during my late teens/early twenties when buying US comics on the internet made following series' much easier. I like the Batman universe (original eh!), but my favourite series is probably Sandman Mystery Theatre by Matt Wagner as I love detective fiction in all mediums and loved the crime solving formula mixed in with the social representations of the time and the Golden Age characters in this piece. I am always on the look out for new series or trades in the detective/crime solving genre and welcome any recommendations. Anyway look forward to joining in on the conversation on the forums.
