Agreed. I'm a Hawkman fan, but I had to drop the new series. The writing was boring me and the art was tough to look at. Liefeld isn't going to produce a masterpiece, but I could see his book being a lot of fun. And Joe Bennett's doing the art. I'm definitely jumping back on. Deathstroke is already a big and dumb but fun action movie of a series... I don't see him ruining that.Paul Nolan wrote:

it would be boring if all 52 titles pushed the same buttons.
And personally, I not a fan of Liefelds art. I AM a fan of his 'creatability' and share his love of comics.
Liefeld joins "Deathstroke", "Savage Hawkman&

I'm really enjoying the art on Deathstroke, but I like Liefeld on characters who are big meatheads with truckloads of gear, armor, and weapons. Plus he needs pouches to put extra ammo in. So that change shouldn't be an issue for me. And while I was enjoying the story well enough, it was starting to move it's way closer and closer to my cancel pile, so maybe Rob can keep me interested.
I wonder where the guy currently on Deathstroke is headed? I see the guy taking over art on Hawkman did the Flashpoint Deathstroke. I thought it was pretty good art - it was one of the titles I enjoyed more than others in Flashpoint. That was due largely to the artwork. I likely won't give the title another try even with an improvement in art because I feel like they already had a shot at me with issue #1. At this point I'm sort of entrenched in the books I've decided on, and want to give them time to tell their stories.
Did anyone notice Deathstroke is wearing an X-Men belt buckle? Rob just can't seem to help himself . Or maybe Deathstroke always had that on his belt buckle and I never noticed.

Being on a series like Grifter is very different from something like, Brightest Day, for example. Feels like some people are actually rooting for the series to fail. But, I don't know exactly how it happened, Scott is doing some his best work(and I'm losing sleep trying to keep the energy in the inks) with Rob on Grifter #9. So if you haven't been completely turned off to Grfiter, check it out. Also no CGI backgrounds for those people who said it was hurting their eyes. You might like it.

I think fair enough. People are allowed to dislike Rob's art. Its certainly not everyone's cup of tea. I personally can't believe how many people overlook his creativity and his passion for the medium.
I'm looking forward to some bombastic action in May
I presume you've got some of that coming in Grifter, Dave?

I have been looking at the Grifter issues in the LCS, and the art by Scott & Dave is absolutely fabulous.
That said, I have absolutely no interest in the Wildstorm characters. I'm not hoping the series will fail, I just don't care about the character Grifter so it's not on my pull list.
I wish you guys success. Based on the quality of the art, hopefully you'll get another series down the line that I can enjoy the "reading of" in addition to the "looking at the art" of.....

Slightly off topic. was there a point where the Charlton characters such as Blue Beetle or the Question became DC characters?BobBretall wrote: That said, I have absolutely no interest in the Wildstorm characters. Paul- Yep, I've been inking bombastic action for the last month and a half. And yes Charlton characters were introduced into the proper DC Universe right after the deal was done. The most prominent was Blue Beetle & Captain Atom who both had pretty good runs. I loved the Len Wein & Paris Cullin's Blue Beetle series. I have #5(1986 series) signed by Len. The Question entered the DCU in this issue. I'm a huge Charlton character fan.
And Captain Atom #17 signed by Greg Weisman.
And the Question #1 signed by Denys Cowan.
Bob- I was not speaking about you or John. I'm talking about the 'haters' who've never even picked up an issue and are rooting for it to fail. I've seen lots of posts by people who admit they never even read the first issue. One even commented on CAFU should be on another series. He's been off the book for 4 months! I don't love every thing I try either and you gave the book a fair shake. I respect your opinion. I just started reading Usagi in trade cuz you and John love the series so much. And you're right, it's a great read.

I know..... I just feel kind of bad when I don't support a book by someone I know, but I REALLY really don't care for the WS characters.davebeaty wrote: Bob- I was not speaking about you or John. The second you are on a mainstream DC character or creator-owned thing, I'll be all over it...
I am not a huge fan of Rob's but not a hater as well. In fact, I am looking forward to his run as either writer or artist on these books. Based on his interviews, it sounds like these books are going to be a lot of fun to read. Besides, I am an old time WS and Teen Titans and he is using characters from both "worlds".davebeaty wrote:Being on a series like Grifter is very different from something like, Brightest Day, for example.
