Last week I picked up like 8 of the number 2s, which is 2-3x what I would usually get. Now that I'm nearly through them all, I think I'm going to drop:

I Vampire: Not enough going on and lost the superhero angle. Most of the book was vampires hitting each other or turning into mist. I think it was too drawn out for $3.

JL Dark: hating the art and not enjoying where the story went with Dove and Deadman. Pass.

On the fence:

Jonah Hex: maybe one more issue based on what that looks like. I've never really cared for Crime Bible stories, so might give it a rest for a while. Did not like the art in the backup. If this were a $2.99 book, I would probably stay on. $3.99 is gonna be tough.

I haven't finished reading the last week of the second issues of the 52. However, Aquaman and Flash are so far the best of the bunch. Very strong second issues for both titles.

Superman #2 was so much better than the first issue. I really liked this issue a lot.

Savage Hawkman and Firestorm are still very average.

Just got my DCBS box with all the #2s. Last night I read through a bunch of them.

5/5
Justice League Dark - It mentioned Joan Armatrading, who is in my top five of greatest musicians to walk the earth. Stupid reason to rate it so high? Sure, but there are dumber reasons. I'm actually liking the storyline but it's banking on a huge payoff that better hit when it all ties together.

Resurrection Man - Liked this one better than the first issue. We're getting the first threads of a plot, the Body Doubles show up, and Mitch is dead again...no big shock there...

Aquaman - Still the best book in my stack. Mera trying to figure out why nobody's bowing to Arthur, everyone calling her Aquawoman, and the menace of The Trench looks pretty darn potent.

4/5
Batman: The Dark Knight - The "venom" angle is cornball, but I still dig the artwork on this book, the interaction between Alfred and Batman was great, the White Rabbit's a cutie, and we get to see the rest of the Bat Family join in to what's going on. I'm still digging this book.

Justice League - Loving the artwork and the storyline here - particularly Barry and Hal.

Red Hood & The Outlaws - One step up and two steps back it seems. The artwork is still jaw-dropping, the characters are getting fleshed out really nicely, but they rushed into the idea of them being a team too quickly. Page 2 or 3 Jason's emphasis is that he's not responsible for them. Page 20 - Okay team let's go. Too quick for my tastes, but I still love this book.

3/5
Blackhawks - Despite my desire to see DC give us new characters, they need to do more to develop said characters so we'll really give a damn about them. I'm still giving this one a day in court, but I didn't enjoy this 2nd issue as much as the first.

OMAC #3 is insanely brilliant. Firstly I love it's done in one nature. You could easily read each one independantly and still have a good time. Secondly I love the amount Didio and Giffen pack into the book.
There is no way this feels like a 20 story page per issue comic. Thirdly. the book is just a visual joy, a complete voyage for the eye.

For me, this is the best book of the New 52.

I haven't read #3 yet but I love it so far as well, and I never would have gotten it if not for the '52 #1 deal'. I think the reason it feels like more than 20 story pages is because it's kind of old school with 6 panels per page or so, do you agree?

I wish more books would do that.

DCBS just tweeted they're offering 50% off the bundle of #5 issues! I'm still catching up on the #1s (busy October, with monthly shipping) and so far it's working out cheaper for me to get the bundles than order individually. Hoping I can drop a bunch - I don't have time to read them all!

I dropped enough that the extra 10% on the "all 52" bundles stopped making sense. I think I'm continuing with 27 of the 52.

PS: Just think, if you do the full bundle through #5, that's a full long box full of DC New52 comics.

last week it seemed like every book was on my list to get and this week the exact opposite. Of all the books that came out I think I only picked up 2.

I haven't read #3 yet (hopefully it arrives tomorrow) but I'm with you guys. Easily one of the best of the new 52, and I would have skipped it if not for the 52 #1 deal. Each issue is standalone, but there's obviously a larger story being played out.

It feels old-school to me with an updated twist both in story and art. I think that's why it seems so long (in a good way). Enough detail is given to tell the story, but not so much that you're learning stuff that just doesn't matter. We're learning who these characters are at a much slower pace than average, leaving room for the stories to be told. It almost seems to be the exact opposite of many books now, in that respect.

Plus I love the art!

Action once again was awesome. Loving these stories.

JLI was pretty good too. Though I think the team actually does better with smaller stories than big ones. But the big stories are what keep lopresti on the book and I love his art on these characters so ok I'll go with it.

Read the rest of my DC stack -

5/5
Wonder Woman - Enjoyed this issue more than the first one. We see some other Amazons, the plot thickens and I'm really enjoying the artwork. More more more!

Supergirl - I recuse myself from voting on this one really...because I'm a slobbering SG fanboy. I'm 95% apt to like it on general principle. That said, this was a great book and I find I have the same comment many have had - it ends too soon.

4/5
Batgirl - I can't decide whether to keep getting this in single issues or wait for the trade. I enjoyed this issue as well...more than the first issue. I'm committed up to the fourth issue right now, so we'll have to see.

3/5
New Guardians - Oh I want to like this one, but I just can't. Art is good, story is getting there, but slowly...this may be a WFTT book. I dropped it with #3 and I'm not unhappy about that at this point.

Batgirl #3 - 5/5 book. If you are fan of Barbara Gordon or Richard Grayson, you have to read this book.

Here's a good article on new 52 sales from the retailers perspective:
