LOVING Birds of Prey. #2 was well consructed. Starling is becoming a fast favourite character of mine. Swierczynski's writing was simply on the money. the team dynamic works brilliantly. This is jumping on the pull list.

Okay, I have major issues ... or an issue ... with BATWOMAN #2 (Spoilers kinda below) .....

So let me get this right, there is a member of the D.E.O, this Cameron Chase, so smart, so headstrong about finding who Batwoman is, and yet there s one person ... one person in all of Gotham (that I have seen) that has chalk white skin, JUST LIKE Batwoman and the connection is not there?

Now yes, I am aware that Gotham is a big place, but certainly someone, somewhere has noticed this connection and perhaps said something to someone?

This is just killing what is otherwise a very good book (artistically a great book).

What is the deal with this white face that no-one notices?

I'm right there with you. This weird compulsion to draw Kate with chalk-white skin is the one thing about the series that really bugs me.

Everyone looks chalk white at night in Gotham.

I have been reading Superman since 1975 and thought Superman #1 was one of the worst of the 52 (3/5). It was very interesting to hear that John thought it was the best. Goes to show there is something for everyone.

Agreed. The only thing that I didn't really like about Weird Worlds was Lobo (loved the other two features), and the Robotman revamp was excellent. I just hope we get more of these characters after this series.

After being tempted for the past month or so I broke down and bought Demon Knights #1 & 2.

First, the good: I thought the art was gorgeous. It was consistent, it was dynamic, it was pretty. Absolutely no problems with any of the visual elements of the book.

On the other hand, I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that Paul Cornell's writing isn't for me. It's so self-consciously clever, with the little whispered asides and the non sequiturs...drives me nuts. There are some really good bits underneath all the "cleverness", but it's too much work to find it.

Very happy with Wonder Woman #2, after a good but not great first issue. The dialogue felt less strained (except for one egregious pun) than in the first issue. If Azzarello, a talented writer, is becoming this comfortable this fast, I think very good things are ahead. Firmly on board.

Yeah, Trev, I did. Only one issue, but I had the same reaction to the writing in that. Oh, well.

I'm guessing you should steer clear of Paul Cornell then :-)

I really like a lot of the second issues of the new 52. In some cases, I liked the second issue better than the first (Justice League, JLI, Swamp Thing).

I am not reading all of DC's books, but here my thoughts of the #2s I have read.

I thought Legion Lost got better from the 1st to the 2nd. It seems to really be borrowing from the previous Legion Lost format. I liked the villain of the month aspect of the comic.

I thought Grifter was about the same, and Stormwatch could really use a character sheet in the back to sort out who is who on the team.

I'm seeing a lot of consistency with the #2 issues.

For series where I didn't like #1 I continued to not like #2. I couldn't even make it through Captain Atom #2, which mirrored my experience with #1.

For series where I liked #1, I liked #2 as much or more.

Birds of Prey #2 was great! Loved the intro of Katana.
