completely agree. I was kind of surprised that the background material was what took up the extra pages. This is the kind of thing Marvel would have thrown out by itself in a freebie.

I just read 4 of my 12 books this week. One thing is for certain, my pull list got a little smaller:

Animal Man #2 - Lemire's idea of horror and mine and totally different. I didn't find this creepy. I found it weird and borderline silly. And Foreman's art doesn't click for me on any level.

Batwing #2 - Winick just didn't win me over with this issue. There's to many issues vying for my dollar and Winick's mediocre story didn't get it done.

Also worth noting, Bye Bye Schism. Issue 4 finally sold me on the magnitude of the event but this final issue was terribly underwhelming and the art really brought the book down. The "new artist each issue" thing didn't help things at all.

I agree about holding the line as I won't do Action for $3.99 ongoing. I was thinking of trying Actoin but now that I know it's staying at 3.99, I'm out.

On a somewhat related note, the New 52 Week 1 digital titles are down to $1.99, from 2.99, to read on a website or iPad app like Comixology. $3.99 are down to 2.99.

That's how I plan on going back and reading Swamp Thing #1. Although, I know you won't read them in digital Bob. I plan on switching to all digital for DC and waiting for the 1 month for $1.99. I simply don't have room in my abode to store physical comics any more. I'd rather spend the extra 20 cents above DCBS price of $1.79, and wait a month. That way I'll save room and have that digital reference to easily go back to.

After my initial three-month trial period, I will be doing exactly the same thing. I bought an iPad the other night, and reading comics on it is a delight.

After adding in the cost of shipping and bags and boards, $1.99 for digital is about the same price as the book through DCBS. Plus, I have the added bonus of not having a hard copy to store or try to sell.

I'm looking to do something similar. The initial 3-month period will help me determine what books I want to get in trade as opposed to which ones I want digitally. Already there are a few I haven't picked up that have been getting good word-of-mouth that just might become regular digital reads.

Another thing I really hadn't considered with digital that I'm sure the rest of you did - those books will always be there. If I go 2-3 months and forget to keep up my Legion reading, I can still go back and pick them up in a heartbeat without scouring back issue bins.

Personally, I can't do it...... My brain is wired to WANT to have physical books and to keep them in boxes.

Too bad I can't dive into them & swim around like Scrooge McDuck in his Money Bin.....

I totally understand. I've got the collector's compulsion, but a lot of what started to change that was moving in to a 450 square foot studio apartment. There's not much room for anything, let alone boxes and boxes of comics.

That said, I still have 15 drawer boxes (plus three more boxes of stuff I want to get rid of), that's what I can fit in the back of my walk-in closet, and I've set myself a limit that I can only have what will fit in those 15 boxes.

Admittedly, it is a weird process to switch to digital. I still have a "I should own the object" mentality, even if that means just owning the trade.

For example, I bought Moriarty #5 digitally this week, since I just got the trade and thoroughly enjoyed it. I struggled a bit before making the purchase, because I thought, "I have the first trade, so I have to keep reading this series in trade so I have the whole set". I had to consciously remind myself that I am interested in the story, not the object.

Fortunately for me, the storage space in my garage is as big as your apartment........ I'd be hosed living in a space that size...... but thus is life in downtown SF.

I have an iPad 2 and have tried digital comics but at the end of the day I want to read a physical comic book. The experience isn't the same, it can't be because of the nature of digital. Besides I am on the computer majority of the day. When I want to unwind, I do not want to stare at a screen.

I understand the reasons people give for switching to digital, and while it still makes me cringe a bit as a retailer, I'm becoming more accepting of it. Something I hope everyone considers, try to continue to buy your digital comics from us comic shops that have taken the leap to embrace digital.

I don't say that because I am one of them and want more sales (although my link is below if you want it

), I say that because it is the only way to get more retailers to see that it is worth offering them to your customers. I feel the LCS is an important thing to have around, and I want to see more of them start to break away from the old ways which are no longer as relevant and start to embrace the new models out there so that they can continue to survive and thrive.

I just had a 'brilliant' idea -- how about a feature that let you scan a QR code setup on the rack in the LCS and buy the book digitally from your shop? Then you could go in to the shop, look at what's out, talk comics, and maybe buy some in print and some in digital if you want.

One of the big problems with the digital storefront right now is that comixology seems to have written the dang thing in Flash (ie. the crutch of the internet). This means it's not accessible on my ipad or iphone. To buy from a store's digital storefront, I have to either thing ahead to buy it when I'm at a computer, or I have to fire up my labtop to make the purchase. Either way, it defeats one of the purposes of having a portable, handheld reader/browser.

Hopefully they fix this.

I've made purchases through my local store's digital storefront, and will continue to do so, but this seems like a significant error.

That is a great idea. If I had the time I might try to develop it but unfortunately I don't. I hope someone else does though, I would be happy to hang the tags in the store (if they don't get printed on the books).
