What DC books do you read?

Post by BobBretall »

What DC books do people read on a regular basis? This can include books you may have on pre-order but that have not come out yet. It should also include Vertigo books.

I used to get fewer books, but with their price drop to $2.99 I started getting a lot more recently to support them and "vote with my wallet" to show that I like $2.99 comics. Plus, I really do like the books.

What books do I get:
ACTION COMICS
ADVENTURE COMICS
AMERICAN VAMPIRE (Vertigo)
ATOM ONE SHOT
BATGIRL
BATMAN
BATMAN BEYOND
BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT
BATMAN, INC.
BATMAN & ROBIN

BATWOMAN
BIRDS OF PREY
BOOSTER GOLD
BRIGHTEST DAY
CINDERELLA: FABLES ARE FOREVER (Vertigo)

JLA/THE 99
JONAH HEX

My New Year's Resolution was to not buy single-issues from the Big Two and go trade only. I'll still pick up the trades, though.

Books I was reading that I'll still continue to pick up in trade:
Batgirl
Supergirl
Booster Gold
Fables (was always trades only on this one)
Superman/Batman (same here)
"That...that HAIR!!!" - Deadpool, Deadpool #11

doh! I didn't include Vertigo in DC when I was thinking about it.

I also buy Fables regularly in singles.

I just started picking up TEEN TITANS again. For a few months, I wasn't getting any DC floppies since I dropped the two JSA books.

I know DC fans are going ga-ga over what is happening with the books but, as a more casual DC reader, I'm just not feeling it.

I do buy the Showcases, Archives, and any Golden Age reprint books but they seem to be phasing out the first two more and more.

I can understand people dropping the JSA titles. I'm not loving the new story direction of the main JSA book and the art on JSA: All Stars isn't working great for me which surprises me since I liked Freddie Williams art on Robin.

Current
THUNDER Agents
Fables

Upcoming
Cinderella

I've looked at getting other DC Titles to reward their $2.99 price point, but I just can't find anything that piques my interest.

Fables was almost dropped recently, $9.99 was a ludicrous price point for an 'issue' of a comic. I'd expect that price negated and normal 'anniversary bump' in sales.

In fairness, Fables #100 did have 100 pages. Granted, it wasn't the great deal that the Marvel #x00 issues tend to be but it was still a fair price. It will be interesting to see how that price impacted sales and the usual "magic number" bump.
