Re: Weekly Comic Spotlight

Re episode 299 question, I also do not read those segments at the end of the DC books. I think it is not that interesting to me (content or visually) but I am not reading much of the new 52 so it has less meaning. I think it would be more to my taste if it was some sort of letter from the editor/Sta...

Re: Mayo Report

Enjoyed the latest episodes as always. Your comment about whether a book is salvagable from a sales perspective after it reaches a certain point is something I wonder about as well. Speaking just about DC, how soon do you think they can try renumbering a title and getting the traditional big (but te...

Re: FREE Digital comics

I haven't heard anything yet either. I would certainly hope they are doing this in groups so as not to overwhelm the servers again. Those who have gotten the email, do they have a "yes, give me all 700 free comics" button? I don't remember any button when I did it. I took almost all of th...

Re: "All-in"?

Not all in with either company. Even in my heady Marvel Zombie days of the 80s, I don't think I was all in. There was always something I could skip, some of those Star line comics spring to mind but back then I would buy most of Marvel. Trades (and the library) have really moved me off of the sense ...

Re: FREE Digital comics

Got mine today. I made out. I do feel bad that the promotion really failed to likely get new people. I would imagine that choose SXSW to get non-comic book people into comics. I have to think those people tried to get the comics, it failed and they forgot about it. Us people already into comics knew...

Re: Previews Spotlight #066 (Apr->Jun): Apr 5th, 5pm pacific

Enjoyed the episode gents. Just to prove my geekness, it was actually Deathmatch #2 that I could not find which is a Boom! book. The store had more number 1s than it could handle. It also had issue 3 in stock. I picked up the book at Wondercon. I think those Boom! books probably don't do great in th...

Re: World's Largest Private Comics Collection (for now).....

I suddenly have a lot more empathy for you and John. I am unorganized but you two would always comment how terrible all the naming changes/reboots were for comics. I will bring a short stack for you on Wondercon but I can't guarantee that you don't have some of them. I think they are unique to your ...

Re: World's Largest Private Comics Collection (for now).....

Bob, do you have your DB online somewhere? I am getting rid of a bunch of comics which you probably have but you might not. It is mostly junk from the last 5 to 10 years but a few older ones. If there were a few, then I would give them to you to jump up that count.

Re: Weekly Comic Spotlight

Take into account that the average book has also gone from 22 pages to 20 pages that means the book today with no splash pages would have 44.4% less content than an issue from the older era (5.93 X 22 pages vs. 3.63 X 20 pages). So yes in some ways you are really getting half an issue now compared ...

Currently planning all three days but can't guarantee all day Friday because of work. Errr work is always getting in the way of comics.

Re: Mayo Report

Enjoy the episode as always. I have no insight into the numbers behind Boom but I think those variant covers seem to be quite popular and, at least in the short term, worthwhile. When I go to artists alley, I see the artists moving their variant cover copies and often selling them out. Part of the s...

Re: LET'S TALK: DC 2.0

Thanks to you two. Good to know another book off the pull list. I am not sure about suicide squad. I did not like this reboot as I didn't care for the new 52 Harley. Interesting that DC really is moving people around so quickly. I guess they are hoping for something to click with the readers but it ...

Re: Cover scale

I do prefer the old timey covers where stuff was happening. Even if it is not directly mirrored in the book itself (fake-out, duplicates, etc). I am not sure if it partly nostalgia or what but the iconic pose type cover just doesn't do anything for me anymore. I am usually there on Wednesday looking...

Re: LET'S TALK: DC 2.0

Assistance from you preview/future gazers, is Green off of Red Hood? He kept me on the book of Roquafort left but the lastest issue has a credit list like an animated movie but no Green. Would be a great time for me to drop the book but I do like his work... Thanks.

Also wanted to say that I agree on the space as a limited resource. I have been trying my hand at the ebay with limited success.
