With that in mind, I am not sure if you can really make an all-ages book that would be widely like by all ages. I am sure that it can happen by accident, but it is very difficult to do by design. Oh yes you can. I recall a couple of Hickman's Fantastic Four/FF books fell into the All Ages rating bu...

I just read 4 of my 12 books this week. One thing is for certain, my pull list got a little smaller: Animal Man #2 - Lemire's idea of horror and mine and totally different. I didn't find this creepy. I found it weird and borderline silly. And Foreman's art doesn't click for me on any level. Batwing ...

I think the publishers know exactly what they are doing. That's why they have developed the Teen and Teen+ ratings. They aren't trying to make books that are age appropriate for everyone. But I think my greater point is being missed. So much of the content added to give these books the Teen or Teen+...

Re: Superman as a true American - of, by, and for the people
I agree with all of that, but I also had a problem with the atheist statement. I am an atheist - I don't believe in any gods. The way his statement was presented actually makes him more likely to be an angry theist than an atheist. Considering how the rest of the book was written I'll assume the au...

Batman did have a semi-grisly murder scene at the end. Plus Scott Snyder is one of my favorite writers today but we all know his material can get pretty creepy and violent. So it's hard to let my 9 year old get invested in it. My main point is that mainstream books like Green Lantern and Aquaman are...

I really, really liked All-Star Western. Perfectly paced and sharply written. Lot's of fun. I really was surprised about Blackhawks. Perhaps it was the nostalgic feel from being a G.I. Joe fan from the 80's, but I was interested. Wasn't a favorite of mine but I'm gonna give it a few more issues. Sam...

I was on the fence about Mr. Terrific, it's not yet earned a slot on my pull list. I had some issues with the dialogue also. I was really frustrated with the book. I really like the character but hated the way he was portrayed here. I agree, I very much liked the 'white king' version as built by Gr...

Marvel & DC's dismissal of young readers...
One of the things I was hoping for from DC's New 52 was that they may open the door wider to young readers. I have a 9 year old son who really wants to get into comics but unfortunately he can't because both major companies insist on jacking their books up with pointless content that adds nothing to...
